Nemo Dive Club

The reefs around Safaga are home to a vast array of marine life. On the plateaus and walls, you will frequently encounter humphead wrasses, various species of grouper, and large schools of fish such as fusiliers, snappers, and jacks. Larger predators like tuna, barracuda, and various sharks, including whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus) and Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), are often seen patrolling the blue.

For those interested in more specialised sightings, the area hosts eagle ray (Aetobatus), manta ray, and various stingrays, including blue-spotted rays. You may also encounter the Napoleon wrasse and various species of reef sharks like the silky shark or even the oceanic whitetip.

Diving conditions in Safaga can vary, particularly regarding currents. While many sites offer calm conditions, several of the offshore reefs, such as Panorama Reef and Middle Reef, are suitable for drift diving when currents are favourable.

Seasonal variations can influence the presence of certain species, such as dolphins, which are more commonly seen during the summer months. The availability of sites is generally consistent throughout the year, with the offshore reefs providing a range of depths and challenges for different experience levels.
