Orca Dive Club Safaga Amarina

ORCA Dive Club Safaga has been operating in the Red Sea since 1995. Situated at the Amarina Abu Soma Resort, just a thirty-minute drive from the airport, it serves as a reliable base for divers looking to explore the Safaga coastline.

The centre is built around a spacious terrace with views over the beach and the jetty, providing a dedicated space to relax after your dives. It is a well-established facility designed to handle both local training and experienced divers looking for day trips.

The centre operates under the SSI and CMAS affiliations, ensuring a standardised approach to training and safety. This dual affiliation allows for a wide range of certification paths depending on your preferred diving organisation.

Staff members are available to guide you through the various levels of training, from your first breaths underwater to more advanced specialty courses. The centre is set up to manage different levels of experience, providing a structured environment for both students and recreational divers.

Training is conducted through SSI and CMAS, covering the full spectrum of diver development. You can begin your journey with the Open Water Diver course or progress through various levels of certification.

Beyond basic training, the centre offers a complete range of specialty courses. These are designed to help you refine specific skills, whether you are looking to improve your buoyancy, navigation, or other technical aspects of diving.

The shore-based facilities are designed for efficiency, featuring an airy drying room to manage your kit between dives. For those not travelling with their own gear, the centre provides a full range of equipment hire in all sizes.

Technical reliability is a priority here, with Bauer compressors on site providing air. For divers looking to extend their bottom time, a Nitrox system is available, and the centre stocks both 12-litre and 15-litre aluminium cylinders.

The reefs around Safaga are home to a diverse array of marine life. You will regularly see schooling reef fish, snappers, and various species of Anthias (Anthias) darting around the coral structures. Larger residents include humphead wrasses, goatfish, and sea breams.

For those watching the blue water, the area supports several larger species. You may encounter Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), Tuna (Thunnus), and various sharks, including Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) and Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus). Eagle rays (Aetobatus) and blue-spotted rays are also known to frequent these waters.

The seabed and reef structures provide habitat for many other creatures, such as giant moray eels, garden eels, and clownfish (Amphiprion) living among the anemones (Actiniaria). Sea turtles (Cheloniidae) are also part of the local ecosystem.

The marine scenery is defined by healthy hard and soft growth. You will find extensive stony corals, soft coral (Alcyonacea), and large sea fans (Gorgoniidae) or giant sea fans decorating the walls and reef flats.
