Aqaba Adventure Divers

Located at South Beach in Aqaba, Aqaba Adventure Divers has been a fixture of the local diving community since 2004. The centre operates as a PADI 5-Star IDC resort, providing a base for both recreational divers and those pursuing professional instructor training.

The resort is situated just a few minutes from the best dive sites in the area, offering a relaxed atmosphere with poolside rooms and an on-site restaurant. It serves as a comprehensive hub for those looking to combine technical training with the natural beauty of the Jordanian Red Sea.

The centre is run by a team of qualified instructors, ensuring a professional standard for both student divers and experienced hobbyists. They maintain a guided ratio of maximum four divers per guide, allowing for close supervision and a more personalised experience on the reef.

Instruction is available in both English and Arabic. The team is also committed to environmental stewardship, organising monthly dive clean-up activities to help maintain the health of the local marine park.

As a PADI 5-Star IDC centre, the facility offers a complete range of training, from the initial Open Water Diver course through to Advanced Open Water Diver. They also host a variety of PADI Specialty courses to help divers refine specific skills.

For those looking to make diving a career, the centre provides Professional Level courses, supporting divers as they progress through the PADI dive training ladder toward instructor status.

The centre provides full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to carry their own kit. This includes everything required for a complete dive, from regulators to exposure suits.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The resort facilities include a swimming pool and a restaurant, providing a convenient space to relax between dives.

The reefs around Aqaba are home to a diverse range of fish, including large schools of fusilier, sergeant majors, and parrotfish. You will regularly encounter various species of snapper, grouper (Epinephelus), and damselfish among the corals. Larger residents like the Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) and various species of triggerfish (Balistidae) add to the vibrant ecosystem.

For those interested in macro life, the area offers plenty of interest. Look closely among the corals for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of shrimp. Garden eels (Gorgasia) can be seen swaying in the sand, while octopuses (Octopus vulgaris) and various species of scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) hide in the crevices.

The hard and soft coral architecture is a highlight of the region, with impressive displays of gorgonian fan corals, table corals, and various sponges (Porifera). These structures provide the essential habitat for the many species of reef fish, including butterflyfish (Chaetodon) and lionfish (Pterois volitans).

Aqaba is known for its generally calm conditions, making it a reliable destination for both shore and boat diving. The water visibility typically ranges between 10 and 30 metres depending on the specific site and seasonal factors.

While the area is accessible year-round, the best conditions for water clarity and marine activity are often found between March and November. Specifically, the months of April to June and September to November offer particularly comfortable conditions for diving.
