This is a straightforward city hotel for divers who want a base rather than a resort performance. You get an air-conditioned room, a private bathroom and a balcony, then step back into central Ensenada when you want food, a drink or a change of scenery.

The practical side is well covered. A 24-hour reception, concierge service, on-site private parking and full-day security make the hotel workable for an early start, a late return or a car-based diving trip. Reception speaks Spanish, so that is the language to use when you need help with the day’s arrangements.

Family rooms are available, and children of any age are welcome. The hotel keeps things fairly simple: somewhere to sleep, cool down and regroup between outings, rather than a long list of facilities competing for your attention.

The address is Av. Riveroll #367 in Zona Centro, Ensenada, Mexico. You are in the city rather than on the beach, with the centre’s restaurants and bars close at hand. La Cocina de los Suaves is about 100 feet away, while Titos Burguer is around 100 feet from the hotel and Pollo Feliz roughly 250 feet away.

For a drink, Zbt Tasting Room and Misión Santa Isabel are each about 1,000 feet away. París de Noche is around 1,450 feet on foot. That gives you several nearby options without turning every meal into a taxi expedition.

The coast requires transport. Playa Hermosa is about 2 miles away by road, Playa Guarnicion Militar around 3 miles, and El Sauzal Beach roughly 5 miles. Tijuana International Airport is 66 miles away, so the arrival and departure legs deserve a little planning rather than a last-minute shrug.

The room choice is fairly easy to read. For two people who want a more compact base, the Double or Twin Room has a king-size bed, while the larger Twin Room uses two king-size beds and can accommodate up to four guests. That is the sensible option for a small family or a group who would rather keep the sleeping arrangements under one roof.

Every room has air conditioning, a seating area, a wardrobe, a TV and a private bathroom with a shower, towels and toiletries. The balcony gives you somewhere to stand outside without turning the room into a storage cupboard, and the air conditioning matters when you come back warm, salty and ready to stop moving for the evening.

There is a practical catch for light sleepers or anyone booking an upper-floor room: those floors are reached by stairs only. WiFi is available free in the public areas, rather than being described as a room service. Cots and extra beds are not available, so choose the room capacity carefully instead of relying on a last-minute bed reshuffle.

Check-in runs from 3 pm to 10 pm, and check-out from 6 am to noon. The 24-hour front desk is useful around a diving schedule, but the published check-in window still finishes at 10 pm, so late arrivals should be arranged before travelling.

Free private parking is available on site and does not require a reservation. A concierge service, wake-up service, safety deposit box and invoice service cover the small practical jobs that tend to appear once you are travelling with dive bags and a car.

Children are welcome, including children under four sharing a bed with their parents, with one such child per room. Pets are not allowed, parties are not permitted, and there is no minimum age requirement for check-in. The hotel is non-smoking throughout, and upper floors are accessible by stairs only.
