Condominium Luana is an apartment-style stay in Chatan, suited to divers who would rather have a proper base than another compact room with just enough floor space for a suitcase. The newer two-bedroom layout gives you a living area, kitchen and balcony, making it practical for couples, families or a group travelling together.

This is the sort of place where the evening can be as simple as a shower, something cold from the fridge and a seat on the sofa. You have your own entrance and private check-in and check-out, while the apartment's non-smoking setting keeps the arrangement straightforward.

You are in Chatan, Japan, close to the Sunabe coastal area. Sunabe Beach is about 400 m away, and Sunabe Baba Park is roughly 400 m from the property. Kadena Marina Beach is about 1.6 miles away, while Sunset Beach is around 1.7 miles away.

American Village is about a ten-minute drive, putting shops, restaurants and an evening wander within easy reach when you fancy more than the view from the balcony. Nakagusuku Castle is about 6 miles away, and Maeda Cape about 9 miles away. Naha's railway stations are in the city, roughly 10 miles away by road, so a car is useful for exploring beyond Chatan.

The accommodation is built around a generous two-bedroom apartment rather than a hotel room formula. If you are travelling as a small group, the separate bedrooms and sofa bed give you room to spread out; if you are travelling as a couple, the living area means you do not have to spend the whole evening on the bed. There is one bathroom, with both a bath and shower, plus a dressing room and a private entrance.

Air conditioning matters in Okinawa, particularly when you come back warm, salty and ready to stop functioning for the day. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, coffee machine, kettle, cookware and dining table, while the washing machine and tumble dryer make longer stays easier. A balcony looks over the city, and the flat-screen TV and sofa give you somewhere to land between dinner and sleep.

The practical details are solid rather than decorative: towels, linen and a hairdryer are included, and the apartment is non-smoking throughout. Windows and the balcony offer a little breathing space; the city view is the view, so choose this base for room to live and easy access to the coast rather than for a resort panorama.

There is no hotel dining format to organise your day around. Instead, you have the useful luxury of a real kitchen: refrigerator for drinks and provisions, stovetop and microwave for something quick, coffee machine and kettle for the first cup, and a dining table where breakfast does not have to be eaten standing up. After an early start, that can be more valuable than a grand buffet with a queue.

You are also close to places to eat. CC's Chicken n Waffles is about 500 m away, Maruhisa tempura roughly 700 m, and a Chinese restaurant about 0.8 miles from the apartment. American Village adds further choice by car, while the kitchen lets you keep the evening low-key when your appetite is large but your enthusiasm for going out has packed up for the night.

The immediate rhythm is coastal rather than resort-based. You can walk towards Sunabe Beach, take a stroll through Sunabe Baba Park, or use the balcony and sofa for the less ambitious but often more sensible option: sit down and stay there. Kadena Marina Beach and Sunset Beach give you other stretches of coast to visit by car.

For a day away from the water, Chatan puts several outings within driving distance. Nakagusuku Castle is about 6 miles away, the Moromi Folk Crafts Museum about 3.4 miles, and Okinawa Zoo & Museum around 4.2 miles. Shuri-jo Castle is about 10 miles by road. The setting works best when you want the freedom to choose your own programme, not when you expect a hotel timetable to entertain you.

Naha Airport is about 13 miles away by road, with a drive of roughly 25 minutes. Free private parking is available on site and does not need to be reserved, which is useful if you plan to use Chatan as a base for beaches, historic sites and the wider island. WiFi is available free of charge in public areas, rather than being described as an in-apartment service.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:00, and check-out from 05:00 to 10:00. Cash is not accepted. Children of any age are welcome, although cots and extra beds are not available, and guests aged 17 or over are treated as adults. Pets are not allowed, parties and events are not allowed, and the upper floors are reached by stairs only. Private check-in and check-out keep arrivals and departures separate from a conventional reception routine.
