Orrs suits divers who want a straightforward base in Chatan rather than a resort programme to work through. The setup is deliberately practical: air conditioning, a proper seating area, a dining area and a refrigerator, all in a room designed for two.

You can settle in with a flat-screen TV, free WiFi and private parking on site. The entire unit is on the ground floor, which keeps arrival and departure simple when you are carrying more than the usual holiday luggage. It is a compact hotel proposition, but the room gives you space to spread out rather than merely turn sideways between the bed and the door.

You are in Chatan, Japan, on the central-western side of Okinawa. Sunabe Beach is about a 17-minute walk away, or roughly 0.8 miles by car, so the coast is close without the hotel claiming to sit directly on the sand. Sunabe Baba Park is about 0.4 miles away.

For food, CC's Chicken n Waffles is around 0.2 miles away and Maruhisa tempura around 0.3 miles. A Chinese restaurant is about 0.6 miles away. When you want to turn the day into something other than another meal, the Moromi Folk Crafts Museum is around 3.4 miles away, while Nakagusuku Castle is about 5 miles away.

Naha Airport is roughly 12 miles away by road. Orrs is therefore well placed for a Chatan stay, but the practical geography favours a car when you want to range beyond the immediate neighbourhood.

The accommodation is centred on a King Room for two, with a super-king-size double bed. At 43 square metres, it gives a couple room to recover properly rather than treating the bed as the only usable surface. The seating area and dining area make it possible to sit down with a drink or a takeaway without balancing everything on the edge of the mattress.

Air conditioning matters in Okinawa, particularly when you return warm, salty and ready to stop moving. The refrigerator is useful for cold water and anything you pick up for later, while the wardrobe, clothes rack and drying rack help keep the room from becoming a small-scale equipment pile. There is also a fold-up bed, although the stated room capacity is for two.

The bathroom includes both a bath and a shower, along with slippers, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. Windows, views and the direction of the morning light are not part of the room description, so the sensible choice here is based on space, cooling and the ability to sit down comfortably after diving.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 18:00, with check-out by 11:00. That arrival window is worth keeping in mind when your flight schedule is doing something inventive; plan the journey so you are not turning up after the door has effectively gone off duty.

Free private parking is available on site and does not require a reservation. WiFi is available throughout the property at no extra charge. Payment is by cash, and the hotel is non-smoking throughout.

Children of any age are welcome, although children aged 13 and over are charged as adults. Cots and extra beds are not available. Pets are not allowed, and there is no age requirement for check-in. Heating is available as well as air conditioning, with ironing facilities for clothes that have lost an argument with the suitcase.
