Aonang Inn is a straightforward three-star hotel for divers who want the useful things close at hand: the beach, a proper meal, a drink and a room with somewhere to sit outside. It is in the Ao Nang area of Krabi town, with air-conditioned rooms, private balconies and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

The mood is practical rather than resort-heavy. You can settle into a room with a sea view, eat at the hotel, order room service or step outside for coffee and restaurants nearby. No grand performance, just a base that keeps the everyday business of a diving holiday fairly simple.

Couples will find room categories designed for two, including king-size beds and sea-view balconies. A twin-room option gives buddies separate beds, which can save a surprisingly long conversation after a week on a boat.

The hotel stands in Krabi town, in the Ao Nang area, at 247, 8, Ao Nang, Muang, Krabi 81180, Thailand. Ao Nang Beach is about 200 metres away on foot, or roughly a three-minute walk. That is close enough to reach the shore without turning a beach outing into a transport exercise.

The surrounding area is useful for a stay where not every meal needs planning. Starbucks-Ao Nang Cliff Beach-Krabi is about 100 metres away, Coffee Klatsch about 350 metres away, and Khwat Cafe Aen Khonditsa about 200 metres away. Ploychompoo is around 100 metres away, while Madras Dosa Restaurant and Farm 2 Table By Kokotel are both roughly 200 metres away.

Pai Plong Beach is about 0.7 miles away on foot, and Nopparat Thara Beach about 0.9 miles. Krabi International Airport is around 15 miles away by road, with a drive of about 26 minutes. Nearby places of interest include Blue Pool, about 1.5 miles away by road, and Gastropo Fossils The World Museum, about 5 miles away.

The rooms are made for two rather than for a full expedition's worth of luggage. Choose the twin arrangement when separate beds matter, or go for a king-size room when the priority is a more conventional couple's stay. The sea-view categories add a clearer reason to linger on the private balcony, while the Deluxe Double Room gives you more indoor space than the standard double options.

Every room has air conditioning, a private bathroom with a shower, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. That matters in Krabi: a cool room is not decorative after a hot day outside. Room service is available, so a late return does not automatically mean searching the streets for food. The hotel does not set out a stated board formula here, making the restaurant, bar and nearby places useful for choosing meals as you go rather than committing the whole stay to one package.

This is a town base, not a programme-led resort. The main non-diving activity is the one that needs no timetable: walk down to Ao Nang Beach, then choose whether the day calls for sand, sea or simply a seat somewhere with a cold drink. Pai Plong Beach and Nopparat Thara Beach give you two more coastal options within roughly a mile.

For a change of scenery, Blue Pool is about 1.5 miles away by road, while The Fun Garden is around 3.9 miles away. Gastropo Fossils The World Museum lies roughly 5 miles away. These are practical outings for a day when you want to see something beyond the hotel and the beach, without turning the stay into a full expedition.

There is no need to invent a packed activity schedule here. The useful leisure facilities are the balcony, the nearby beaches, the cafés and the town around you. A private bathroom, air conditioning, a refrigerator and free Wi-Fi do a fair amount of work when the preferred plan is to sit down and do very little.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 18:00, and check-out from 07:00 to 12:00. The reception window makes arrival planning worth doing, particularly if your flight reaches Krabi later in the day. Krabi International Airport is about 15 miles away by road, and airport transfer arrangements should be made directly with the hotel if required.

The property accepts cash payments only. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, luggage storage is available, and a safety deposit box is provided. Upper floors are accessible by stairs only, which is worth considering if you prefer to avoid stairs with dive luggage or after a long travel day.
