Railay Princess Resort & Spa is a resort for divers who want a proper base on Railay Beach, with air-conditioned rooms, two pools, a spa and a restaurant on site.

The setting gives the place its character: the hotel sits on the east coast of Railay, with the sea on one side and limestone country around it. You can spend the day moving between the water, the cliffs and the hotel itself, rather than treating the resort as somewhere merely to sleep.

You are in Railay Beach, Thailand, beside the Railay Pier on the east coast of the peninsula. Railay East Beach is about 50 metres away, while the more open stretch of Railay Beach is around 350 metres away on foot. Phra Nang Beach is roughly 600 metres away, so you have several very different pieces of coastline within walking distance.

This is not an ordinary drive-up hotel. Access is by long-tail boat, with a taxi from Krabi International Airport to Ao Nam Mao Pier or Aonang Beach before the boat crossing to Railay. Once you arrive, the pier is right beside the resort. A useful detail when your luggage has acquired the weight of a small anchor.

The immediate area includes restaurants and bars, with Sunrise Tropical Restaurant about 100 metres away and Jen Bar around 300 metres away. Tonsai Beach is about 1 mile away, and the surrounding landscape brings the limestone cliffs close to the daily routine.

The rooms are built for two, with the choice between more compact accommodation and larger categories when you want a little more room to spread out. The Deluxe, Grand Deluxe and Junior Suite options make more sense for couples who dislike stepping over bags, camera cases and damp clothing on the way to the bathroom. Air conditioning matters here. After warm water, salt and a full day outdoors, being able to cool the room properly is more than a decorative line in a facilities list. Balconies give you somewhere to sit, while a wardrobe, desk and sofa bed add useful structure for a longer stay rather than leaving everything in a heap beside the bed.

Daily housekeeping keeps the room in order, and Wi-Fi is available in the public areas and free throughout the hotel according to the resort information. The room categories are all designed for two guests, so couples should choose by the amount of living space they want rather than expecting a family room to absorb a third adult.

Princess Restaurant handles breakfast, lunch and dinner on its terrace, from 07:00 until 22:30. The kitchen works across Thai and international food, with local Thai dishes alongside Western choices, so you can keep things familiar or make the meal part of the trip. Dinner comes with limestone cliff views and the option of a candlelit setting.

Breakfast is a buffet with vegetarian, halal and American choices. It starts at 07:00, which is a sensible hour for a diver who would rather eat before the morning starts than negotiate breakfast after the boat has gone.

There is also a coffee house on site, a bar and room service, giving you options when you want something less formal. Special-diet menus can be requested, and a minimarket on site covers the small practical purchases that otherwise become a walk with a very specific mission.

Two outdoor pools give you an easy alternative to the beach. One looks over the garden and lake, while the rooftop pool faces the limestone mountains and the Andaman Sea; the rooftop setting is particularly suited to an early start, with sunrise views described as part of the experience. Sun terraces, umbrellas and garden areas provide the less energetic version of the afternoon.

Railay Princess Massage offers massages, facials, body wraps and scrubs based on Thai healing traditions. That is the useful sort of post-dive arithmetic: water, food, treatment, bed. The indoor fitness centre is available if you still have energy left, although nobody will insist that you use it.

For a day away from the dive schedule, the resort arranges or supports excursions including the Four Islands, Phi Phi Island, Hong Island, kayaking, rock climbing and cultural outings. Kayaking and boat excursions are available, while a kids’ club caters for children aged 4 to 12.

Plan the arrival as a combined road-and-boat transfer. The resort offers an airport transfer from Krabi International Airport, arranged privately or as a shuttle service through the hotel, while the independent route involves a taxi to Ao Nam Mao Pier or Aonang Beach followed by a long-tail boat to Railay. The hotel is next to the pier, which keeps the final part straightforward once you reach the beach.

Check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out is by 11:30. You need photo identification and the card used for the booking at check-in, and the hotel asks you to give your expected arrival time in advance. Luggage storage, a 24-hour reception, an on-site cash machine and a tour desk are available.

A refundable cash damage deposit is collected on arrival and returned after the property has been inspected at check-out.
