Buceo Marina

Located on the first line of the beach in La Herradura, Buceo Marina serves as a professional hub for divers exploring the Granada coastline. The centre is positioned perfectly to access the varied underwater topography of the Costa Tropical, ranging from shallow reefs to deeper wall dives.

Whether you are looking to start your journey with a Discover Scuba Diving session or are an experienced technical diver seeking Trimix training, the centre is equipped to manage a wide breadth of disciplines. The facilities are modern and designed to support both the recreational enthusiast and the professional candidate.

The instructional team is highly qualified, led by a Course Director and a Master Instructor. The staff includes IDC Staff and a Specialty Instructor, ensuring that training is handled by those with significant experience in the field.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, the facility is a primary location for professional development. They host the full range of the PADI Instructor Development Course, supporting candidates from the initial stages through to becoming an instructor.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the entire PADI spectrum. Beginners can start with Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Diver, while those looking to progress can undertake Advanced Open Water, Deep Diver, or Rescue Diver courses. Specialty training includes Nitrox, Wreck, and Dry Suit Diver.

For technical divers, the centre offers a structured progression through Tec Basics, Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50, leading into Tec Trimix and Tec Trimix 65. Freediving is also a core discipline, with courses ranging from Basic Freediver to Master Freediver and Instructor levels.

Professional training is a significant focus, with the centre providing the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), Divemaster training, and preparation for Course Director.

The centre operates a dedicated dive boat with a capacity for 12 divers. The vessel allows for easy access to local sites, including night dives and day trips. On board, you can find refreshments such as coffee and water to enjoy between immersions, with stops made at the beach between dives.

The shore-based facilities are comprehensive, featuring a 100 m2 rinsing area and a classroom capable of seating 12 people. For those requiring equipment, a full range of kit is available for hire. The centre is also equipped with a heated swimming pool for training and skills practice.

A dedicated gas station is available on-site, providing Air, Nitrox, and Trimix. The centre is also designed to be accessible for divers with reduced mobility.

The marine life in this area is remarkably diverse, with many species inhabiting the various reefs and rock formations. You will often encounter large schools of fish, including Salema porgy (Sarpa salpa), Bogue (Boops boops), and white seabream. Larger pelagic fauna and species like tunas and Amberjack (Seriola) add to the activity of the water column.

Macro life is a highlight for many divers, with Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) and various Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) to be found amongst the rocks. Keep a sharp eye out for Cuttlefish (Sepiidae), Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), and different species of scorpionfish.

The seabed is rich with life, featuring Moray eel (Muraenidae) and Conger eel (Congridae) tucked into crevices. You may also spot Spiny lobster (Palinuridae), Lobster (Homaridae), and various crabs (Brachyura) near the reef structures.

The underwater landscape is built upon a foundation of beautiful fixed life, including large anemones (Actiniaria), various sponges (Porifera), and sea fans (Gorgoniidae). Soft corals and different types of coral, such as orange star coral, provide a colourful backdrop for the local ecosystem.

The area is accessible for diving year-round. The local sites offer a range of environments, from easy, shallow dives for beginners to more technical deep dives and wall immersions for experienced divers.
