Nerja Dive Resort

Nerja Dive Resort is situated in the Marina del Este area of La Herradura, providing direct access to the varied underwater landscapes of the Costa del Sol. The centre operates in a region known for its diverse coastal topography, ranging from rocky reef flats to deeper Mediterranean environments.

The centre is PADI affiliated and focuses on providing structured diving experiences for both those completing their first certifications and experienced divers looking for technical training. Their location allows for easy access to the natural marine reserves of the local coastline.

The team at Nerja Dive Resort is highly qualified, with a focus on maintaining strict safety standards and professional guidance. They adhere to all certification depth limits and ensure that all boat trips are supported by personnel trained in rescue and oxygen administration.

Instruction is delivered in English and Spanish, making it accessible for international divers. The centre maintains a controlled diver-to-guide ratio, with a maximum of six divers per guide, ensuring personalised attention during both training and exploration dives.

Beyond technical instruction, the centre is committed to marine conservation, participating in the AWARE project to promote environmental protection and responsible diving practices.

The training programme covers the full PADI spectrum, beginning with the PADI Open Water Diver course. For those looking to expand their skills, the centre offers PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Adventure Diver, and specialty courses such as Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, and Dry Suit Diver.

Professional development is a significant part of the centre's offering, with courses available for PADI Divemaster, PADI Assistant Instructor, and the PADI Instructor Development Course. Technical and specialised training is also available, including Nitrox, DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle), and Search & Recovery.

The centre operates dive boats with a maximum capacity of 12 passengers, excluding the crew. These vessels facilitate trips to the dive sites around La Herradura and Marina del Este, including dedicated night dive excursions.

Safety is a priority on board, with first aid equipment and oxygen readily available. Nitrox is also provided on the boats for divers who require it.

For those not travelling with their own kit, the centre offers full equipment hire, including wetsuits, masks, snorkels, fins, BCDs, and regulators. A deposit is required for all equipment rentals.

Personal equipment users can also hire cylinders and weights on-site. The facility is equipped to handle the needs of both recreational and professional divers.

The local waters are home to a diverse array of Mediterranean species. You will find large schools of sea bream, bogue (Boops boops), white seabream, and Salema porgy (Sarpa salpa) moving through the water columns. Larger predators such as Amberjack (Seriola), Common dentex (Dentex dentex), and various species of Grouper (Epinephelinae) are also present.

The reef structures are built up with rich fixed life, including various Gorgonian (Gorgonacea) fans, soft corals, flower corals, and sponges (Porifera). You can also find large anemones, sea urchins (Echinoidea), and various types of coral such as orange star coral and yellow coral.

Macro life and crustaceans are abundant, with sightings of Octopus (Octopoda), Cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and Spiny lobster (Palinuridae). Divers can also look for smaller inhabitants like Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Seahorse (Hippocampus), and various species of Crab (Brachyura) and lobster (Homaridae) among the rocks and crevices.

The region enjoys an ideal climate for diving throughout the year, with particularly favourable conditions during the summer and the three spring seasons. The local diving spots are accessible to all certification levels, though specific sites may vary in depth and complexity.
