Hotel Rosamar

Hotel Rosamar is made for a seaside break where the beach, the promenade and the evening meal all sit within easy reach. You can finish the day by the water, return to a room with a private balcony, and still have local cafés, bars and restaurants nearby when you fancy a change of scenery.

The atmosphere is more coastal and practical than grand: a garden, terraces, an outdoor pool, sun loungers and a restaurant looking towards the beach. In other words, you can spend the day outside without needing a complicated plan.

Families are welcome, and several room layouts suit couples or groups of three and four. A lift, wheelchair-accessible areas and accessible upper floors also make the building easier to navigate.

You are in Sant Antoni de Calonge, on the Costa Brava in Spain, right beside Palamós Bay. The hotel has direct access to the maritime promenade, while Platja Sant Antoni is about 50 metres away on foot. That is close enough for a morning swim, a stroll before breakfast or a quick look at the sea before heading out for the day.

The coastline gives you several alternatives without turning every outing into a transfer operation. Platja Torre Valentina is about 700 metres away, Platja des Monestri about 800 metres, and Platja Gran de Palamos about 1.5 km. Cala Roques Planes Beach is roughly 2 km away.

For a change from beach time, the Museu de la Pesca is about 2 km away, while Parc del Convent dels Agustins is around 2.5 km away. Restaurants sit very close to the hotel, including Restaurant Simon and Restaurant Kubansky, both within roughly 150 metres. Girona-Costa Brava Airport is about 23 miles away by road.

The useful choice here is less about collecting room names and more about deciding what you want to see when you open the balcony door. Couples can choose between a sea-view room, a pool or natural-solarium view, and a superior sea-view option. The sea-view rooms put the coast into the room rather than leaving it for the promenade downstairs; the pool-side alternatives keep the outlook more inward and may suit you if the balcony is mainly for sitting out.

If you are travelling as three, the superior triple room gives each guest a single bed. The other triple option combines two single beds with a sofa bed, which works differently for sleeping arrangements. For four guests, the Deluxe Family Room brings together two single beds, a double bed and a sofa bed. There is also a split-level studio for three, with a king-size bed and a sofa bed.

The smaller Comfort Double Room is the straightforward option for two, while the larger rooms give you more space to spread out after a day in swimwear and damp clothes. Every room has a private bathroom, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, a refrigerator, a seating area and a desk. The balcony matters here: it gives you somewhere to sit with a cold drink rather than making the bed do every job.

Daily housekeeping, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer are included. A flat-screen TV, radio and satellite channels cover the evening when your legs have had enough of the promenade. Cots are available for children aged up to two years, subject to the chosen room arrangement, while extra beds are not available.

The outdoor pool sits among palms and comes with sun loungers, umbrellas and outdoor seating. The beach is directly accessible, so you can choose between salt water and fresh water without making an expedition of it. There is also an open-air bath, a hot tub and a solarium for the slower part of the afternoon.

The hotel can arrange bicycle rental and bike tours, while walking tours provide a less strenuous way to see the coast. Cycling, canoeing, windsurfing, horse riding and snorkelling are also available in the wider area, with some activities taking place off site. Sailing is another option along the coast.

Back at the hotel, the garden, sun terrace and shared lounge give you places to sit when you have had enough sun but are not ready for dinner. Board games and televised live sports keep the evening simple. There is no need to turn every non-diving hour into an organised activity; sometimes a chair, a view and a cold drink are the correct equipment list.
