English, French, German and Spanish are spoken by the hotel team, so you can deal with the practical details in English without resorting to underwater hand signals at reception. The atmosphere leans towards an easy-going seaside resort: couples can keep things simple, while families have a games room, playground and seasonal entertainment to occupy the non-diving hours.

The hotel was renovated in 2023 and has 120 rooms. That gives AGH Canet a useful middle ground for a diving holiday: properly organised facilities, but still close enough to the beach for a spontaneous swim or a walk before dinner.

Canet de Berenguer, Spain, is the actual setting here, on the coast rather than in Valencia itself. The hotel sits by the sea, with Platja de Canet around 0.03 miles away and accessible on foot. Golden sand, sun loungers and parasols make the beach a straightforward place to spend the surface interval, even if your idea of a surface interval normally involves a café and a chair.

Valencia’s cultural city centre is around 19 miles away, while the hotel’s own location information puts the city centre at about 10 minutes by bus. Valencia Airport is roughly 20 minutes away by car. Castellón–Costa Azahar Airport is farther away, at around 38 miles.

You also have everyday options close by. Restaurants such as Restaurante La Comedia and Bar Restaurante Tito Playa Canet are within walking distance, and the Gauthier bar is nearby. The Les Valls and Sagunt rail stations are both around 3 to 4 miles away by the road routes listed for the area.

The practical difference between the room categories is less about decoration and more about how you want to use the space. For two people, a Double or Twin Room gives you two single beds and a private furnished terrace; choose a garden-view version if you would rather look out over greenery than the sea. Some rooms have sea views, which is the obvious choice when the horizon matters more than the television.

Travelling as three? The standard and family options add a sofa bed to the two single beds, giving you a more workable arrangement than trying to negotiate sleeping space around dive bags. The family rooms are also the sensible fit when the room needs to function as a base rather than just a place to collapse into.

Every room has air conditioning, heating, a television, desk, wardrobe and hairdryer, with a private bathroom and furnished terrace or balcony. Soundproofing is useful when you want sleep rather than a guided tour of the corridor, while daily housekeeping, free Wi-Fi and room service cover the less glamorous but genuinely useful parts of a diving day. The rooms are non-smoking, and the lift reaches the upper floors.

Restaurant Canet handles the main meals, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served in an air-conditioned indoor dining room. The kitchen is Mediterranean and works with fresh local produce, which is a more useful description than simply calling it varied. Dinner is relaxed rather than formal, with a casual dress code and service listed from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

Breakfast is a buffet from 7.30am, including gluten-free choices. Half-board is available, so you can cover the meals that matter and leave some evenings open for the nearby restaurants. For a diver, the timing is worth checking against the day’s departure, as there is no early diver breakfast or packed meal described here.

There is one bar: the Bar Piscine, positioned beside the outdoor pool and focused on cocktails. A snack bar, café and restaurant are also part of the hotel’s food and drink offer, and breakfast can be served in your room. Room service runs during limited hours, so it is useful after a long day, but not a substitute for planning a late-night feast. The outdoor pool, pool bar, restaurant and cafeteria are seasonal, with winter closures affecting some of these services.

The main post-dive decision is whether to go straight to the beach or stop at the outdoor pool first. The large pool has an integrated bar, with sun loungers and umbrellas around it; there is also a separate children’s pool. The beach is close enough for a change of scenery without turning relaxation into an expedition.

If your legs still have an argument left in them, the fitness centre, paddle tennis courts and table tennis offer something more active. Bicycles, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and boat excursions are also available, with equipment rental for the water-based activities. That gives couples a few ways to spend a day together when one person wants movement and the other has already perfected the art of the sun lounger.

For a quieter evening, there is a shared lounge and a games room. Summer entertainment and evening entertainment are part of the programme, with entertainment staff on site. Families have a playground, indoor play area, children’s menu and babysitting service, while Valencia visits and boat excursions provide alternatives to staying within the hotel grounds.
