Coral Coast Hotel

This is a small beachfront hotel in Dahab for divers, couples, solo travellers and families who would rather spend their time between the sea, the sand and a decent meal than in a large resort complex. Coral Coast Hotel has its own private beach, direct access to the shore and several places to sit outside, including the Arisha Palm Area, the Hammock Pergola and a Bedouin Tent.

The tone is relaxed rather than formal. You can settle on the beach, listen to music at The Bar, play backgammon or sit by an open fire with mint tea in the Bedouin Tent. That gives your evening a bit more character than the standard hotel lounge and, importantly, keeps the sea close when you have had enough of the day.

You are in Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt, directly on the Gulf of Aqaba. The hotel sits on its own private stretch of golden sandy beach, with a coral reef offshore and a dramatic mountain backdrop. Dahab Beach is only a few steps away, so reaching the water does not require a shuttle, a road crossing or a heroic march in flip-flops.

The setting also gives you practical choices beyond the hotel. Eldorado Dahab Lodge & Restaurant is about 0.1 mile away, while Red Cat and Ralphs German Bakery are about 0.3 mile away. Tea Garden Cafe is roughly 1 mile away on foot. The surroundings combine beach, reef, desert and mountains, with activities ranging from local excursions to longer trips into the Sinai.

The rooms are arranged for straightforward recovery rather than theatrical luxury. Air conditioning matters when you come back warm, salty and ready to sleep, while the refrigerator gives you somewhere to keep water cold. A kettle is also available for the first drink of the morning or the last one of the evening. Daily housekeeping, WiFi throughout the hotel and a private bathroom keep the basics uncomplicated.

For a couple, the Superior Double Room is the sensible starting point when you want a simple room with twin beds. If the view is part of the reason for booking, look at the sea-view options instead: the Superior Single Room with Sea View suits a solo traveller, while the Family Room with Sea View gives two guests more room to spread out. Sea and mountain views are available across the accommodation, although the exact outlook depends on the room you choose.

Families are welcome, and children of any age can stay. A cot can be requested for children aged up to two, while children aged seven and over are charged as adults. There are no extra beds. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, worth bearing in mind if your knees have already done enough work for one day.

Breakfast is included and served as a buffet from 7.30am, with continental, American, vegetarian and halal choices. An early breakfast box is available for divers, which is the useful sort of detail: you can get something into you before an early departure without turning breakfast into a military operation.

Coral Coast Restaurant works with local and international food, including European dishes, healthy meals, daily specials and beach snacks. The menu is available à la carte, with the setting either on the beach or within the hotel grounds. There is also a Bedouin dinner under the stars as part of a package, giving you a more local evening when you want something beyond the usual restaurant table.

There is one named bar, The Bar, next to the dive centre. It serves local wines and beers, spirits for cocktails and fresh seasonal juices, with snacks for a light lunch or something between swims. Music and conversation are part of the setup, and happy hour is available. After a day in the water, a cold drink and food that does not require a dress code is a reasonable plan.

The private beach is the obvious place to start when you want to stop moving. Sun loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas, pool and beach towels, a sun terrace and outdoor seating let you choose between shade and full desert brightness. Snorkelling and water sports are available on site, while bicycle hire, horse riding and canoeing give you alternatives when you feel like doing something without putting on a wetsuit.

Wellbeing is a substantial part of the hotel rather than a single massage room tucked beside reception. Nour Wellbeing Dahab offers massage, Reiki, reflexology, body scrubs, traditional Egyptian and Sudanese beauty treatments, hot stone and Swedish deep tissue massage, among other therapies. There is also a Hofra smoke sauna, physiotherapy and treatments such as Indian head massage. Some options are seasonal, so you should choose the treatment you actually want before building your whole afternoon around it.

The rooftop yoga studio hosts yoga and meditation, with further classes including Qi Gong, fitness and dance. Tailored wellbeing programmes, detox stays and retreats are available, while desert options include safaris, camel treks, canyon walks, visits to oases and sand dunes, Mount Sinai and St Catherine’s Monastery. The hotel also offers horse riding and cultural excursions, so your non-diving companion has genuine ways to fill the day rather than merely being invited to admire the furniture.

Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport is about 57 miles away by road, with a driving time of around one hour and eleven minutes. An airport shuttle is available and can be arranged through the hotel; the service is chargeable, with transfers included in some packages. Car hire, a tour desk, currency exchange and an ATM are available on site, and free public parking is provided without reservation.

Check-in runs from 2pm to 11pm, while check-out is from 11am to 1pm. There is no age requirement for check-in. Parties and events are not allowed, which keeps the accommodation suited to a quieter evening after diving. Pets are accepted on request without an additional charge.

WiFi is free throughout the hotel. Laundry is available, and a wake-up service is useful when the first departure is earlier than your natural alarm clock would prefer. If you choose an upper-floor room, access is by stairs only. Cancellation and prepayment conditions vary by room type, so check the conditions attached to the option you select.
