Cabo Pulmo - Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort

Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort is situated directly facing the Cabo Pulmo Marine National Park in Baja California, Mexico. Established in 1987, the resort has been central to the development and marine protection of this unique area, which has been a protected national park since 1995.

The resort operates as an off-grid, solar-powered village, maintaining a traditional 'Old Mexico' atmosphere. It is a calm environment, free from the jet-skis and high-traffic tourism found in larger coastal towns, making it an ideal base for divers focused on marine conservation and biodiversity.

The dive centre is run by a dedicated team of six full-time instructors. To ensure safety and a personalised experience, the centre maintains a ratio of six divers per guide.

Instruction is provided in both English and Spanish. The team handles everything from entry-level Discover Scuba Diving sessions to more advanced PADI certifications, all within the context of the surrounding marine reserve.

The centre is a PADI affiliated facility offering a comprehensive range of training. For beginners, they provide Discover Scuba Diving and the Open Water Diver course.

Progressive training includes the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. They also offer Emergency First Response training, Referral Dives, and refresher classes for those looking to brush up on their skills before exploring the park.

The centre operates dive boats with a capacity for 32 divers. These vessels facilitate trips to the various reefs, wrecks, and pinnacles that define the Cabo Pulmo area.

A full range of rental kit is available on-site, including BCDs, wetsuits, fins, masks, snorkels, and regulators. For those looking to hire specific items, individual components such as wetsuits or BCDs can be sourced separately.

Safety is a priority, with oxygen available on board for snorkeling tours. The resort's villas are the only accommodation in the region to offer air conditioning, providing a comfortable break from the heat after a day in the water.

The marine life in the park is exceptionally dense, with over 800 species recorded. You will regularly encounter large schools of snappers, groupers, and various species of eels, including Panamic Green Moray, Zebra eel, Fine Spotted eel, and Jewel eel. Turtles and stingrays are common across almost all the reef sites.

For those interested in larger pelagics, the area offers sightings of bull sharks, tiger sharks, and whitetip sharks. Depending on the season, you may also encounter Mobula rays, guitar fish, and even whale sharks.

Seasonal visitors include humpback whales and sea lions, particularly around La Lobera. During certain periods, you can also find large schools of sardines and various species of jacks.

Macro life is abundant on the reef flats and within the crevices. Divers can find nudibranchs, lobsters, and various species of garden eels, alongside electric rays and pufferfish.

The dive sites in Cabo Pulmo range from shallow reef flats to deeper coral reefs reaching depths of 30 metres. The area is part of a protected marine park, which helps maintain the integrity of the reef structures and the density of the fish populations.
