Scubaholics Subic

Subic Bay is a premier destination for those drawn to maritime history, offering an unparalleled collection of shipwrecks, aircraft, and military vehicle remains. Scubaholics Subic was founded by a group of seasoned diving enthusiasts who recognised the immense potential of this area for both recreational and technical divers. Their mission is to establish the bay as a world-class hub for wreck exploration.

The centre provides access to more than 30 diverse wreck sites, ranging from shallow, coral-encrusted skeletons to deep, technical targets. Beyond the well-known wrecks, the team also leads trips to the secluded Recondo Peninsula, where you can find vibrant coral reefs, mysterious pinnacles, and dramatic wall dives in much more tranquil conditions.

The team consists of six highly experienced instructors and a support staff all certified in diving and first aid. This professional approach ensures that safety and risk management are integrated into every dive, from recreational outings to complex technical penetrations.

Training is comprehensive, covering everything from the PADI Bubblemaker program for children to professional development through Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses. The instructors are well-versed in both recreational and technical diving, making them capable of guiding you through a wide variety of underwater environments.

Scubaholics Subic provides a complete spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to progress can undertake the Advanced Open Water, Deep Diver, or Wreck Diver courses. Specialty training is also available for skills such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night Diver, and Underwater Navigator.

For technical divers, the centre offers a robust TecRec curriculum. This includes Tec 40, Tec 45, and Tec 50, with Trimix options available for all levels. They also provide specialised training in Sidemount diving, Gas Blending, and Rebreather support. Professional divers can pursue the Divemaster and Instructor Development Course (IDC) here.

The centre offers a full range of rental equipment for those not travelling with their own kit. For technical divers, the facility is sidemount friendly, providing dedicated left and right valve modular cylinders, as well as manifold backmount doubles and both DIN and Yoke valve cylinders.

On-site facilities include a dedicated, fully equipped first aid room and secure storage for your personal dive gear. Divers can also make use of hot showers and a retail area featuring equipment from brands such as Scubapro, Halcyon, Cressi, and OMS.

The wreck sites are teeming with life, including snapper, jacks, fusiliers, and various species of wrasse. You will often encounter turtles and eagle rays cruising the deeper sections of the wrecks, while parrot fish and Moorish idols frequent the shallower structures.

For macro enthusiasts, the bay offers significant rewards. Look closely at the wrecks and sandy bottoms to find nudibranchs, octopus, ribbon eels, and various species of shrimp. The USS Banaang is particularly noted for being a great macro photography site.

Fixed life is abundant across the reefs and wrecks, with hard and soft corals providing the structural foundation for the local ecosystem. You may also spot ocean catfish, trumpet fish, and various species of rays, including blue spotted rays near the shallower wrecks.

The best time to dive in Subic Bay is generally from November to June. During this period, the conditions are most favourable for exploring the various sites throughout the bay.
