Klong Prao Resort is a 126-room resort spread between the beach and a lagoon, with cottage-style bungalows, a pool and places to eat without leaving the grounds. You get a proper seaside base rather than a tower block: beach access for a quick swim, a minimart for the forgotten essentials and enough room to settle into an unhurried island routine.

English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside Russian and Thai. That matters when you are arranging breakfast, a boat outing or the practical details of a room after a long day outside. The resort also works for couples and families, with a children’s pool and outdoor play equipment, while the beachfront setting gives couples an easy place to watch the evening arrive.

You are on Klong Prao Beach in Ko Chang, Thailand, with direct access to a white-sand shoreline. The beach is right beside the resort, while Chai Chet Beach is about 550 yards away and Kai Bae Beach about 2.3 miles away. Pearl Beach sits roughly 1.8 miles north, and White Sand Beach about 2.9 miles further up the island.

The setting also gives you straightforward access to the island’s greener side. Klong Plu Waterfall is about 1.8 miles away, and Mu Koh Chang National Park roughly 4.6 miles. For arrivals, Trat Airport is about 14 miles away, with the road journey taking around 1 hour 10 minutes. Ao Tammachart Pier is about a 20-minute drive, and Chantaburi is around an hour away.

The room choice is mainly about how you want to spend the evening. A villa gives you a separate cottage-style feel and a double bed, while the larger deluxe rooms offer more breathing space for two or three guests. Travelling as a couple, the Jacuzzi room with sea view is the obvious romantic option; if the pool matters more than the horizon, the pool-view room keeps you close to the resort’s central action.

Every room has air conditioning, a balcony, satellite television, a minibar, a refrigerator and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The hardwood flooring and views towards the sea or garden keep the rooms tied to the setting, while the fridge is useful for keeping water cold when you come back hot, salty and ready for a shower. For lunch and dinner, Rim-Had Restaurant sits directly on the beach. Its menu covers Thai food, international dishes and seafood, with à la carte choices and a barbecue corner serving fresh seafood, beef, pork and fish. The terrace looks straight out across the beach, making this the place for a proper meal when you would rather keep the sea in view than discuss the day indoors.

There are two bars. The Beach Bar serves light snacks and cocktails from 11:00 to 23:00, while the Pool Bar offers a range of refreshments from 10:00 to 19:00. Poolside snacks are available during the day, so you can keep things simple between a swim and the next decision about dinner. Special-diet menus can be requested.

The main outdoor option is a free-form pool close to the beach, open from 08:00 to 20:00, with a separate Jacuzzi and a children’s pool. Sun loungers, umbrellas, pool and beach towels, a sun terrace, garden and private beach area give you several places to stop moving for a while. The beach itself is the uncomplicated choice: walk out, find a chair and let the afternoon get on with it.

If your legs still want a job, the fitness centre is beside the pool, beach and massage area. Thai massage is available, including full-body, foot, neck and back massage. The tour desk can arrange outings such as trips to Klong Plu Waterfall, boat excursions and fishing, while hiking and canoeing are available as activities away from the resort grounds.

Families have outdoor play equipment and a children’s pool, with children of any age welcome. For a quieter couple’s day, the useful combination is simpler: breakfast, a walk along Klong Prao, a massage and a chair by the water. No elaborate programme required.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 21:00 and check-out is by 12:00. You need photo identification and a credit card at check-in, while payment at the property is made in cash. A refundable cash damage deposit is taken on arrival and returned at check-out after the property has been inspected.

The front desk operates around the clock, with a wake-up service, tour desk, room service and packed lunches available.
