HG Lomo Blanco is an apartment hotel for divers who prefer a proper base rather than a bedroom with just enough room for a suitcase. The traditional Canarian architecture gives the complex a residential feel, while the apartments bring you a separate living area, kitchenette and outdoor space. In other words, you can spread out a little after a day in the water without having to sit on the edge of the bed to eat a sandwich.

The mood is easy-going and practical. Two outdoor swimming pools, gardens, terraces and loungers give you somewhere to slow down, while the restaurant, café-bar and nearby Puerto del Carmen keep the evening within reach. It suits couples particularly well, but the larger apartments also make sense when several divers are travelling together and nobody wants to negotiate for the only available chair.

A 24-hour reception, car hire, luggage storage, a tour desk and public parking nearby make the place useful for a stay built around diving and exploring the island rather than staying inside the resort all day.

You are in Puerto del Carmen, on the south coast of Lanzarote, at Guadarfia 1. The nearest Puerto del Carmen beach is about 0.1 mile away on foot, with Playa Chica around 1 mile away. The beach access is straightforward: golden sand and a short walk, not a complicated expedition involving a shuttle, a timetable and the patience of a saint.

The old town is about 0.4 mile away, and a shopping centre is roughly 0.2 mile from the property. Restaurants are close enough for an evening change of plan: Café La Ola and The Galleon are each around 650 to 700 feet away on foot, while El Polaco is about 850 feet away. Several cafés and bars are also within roughly 0.3 mile.

Lanzarote Airport is about 3.8 miles away by road. Playa de los Pocillos is around 1.5 miles away on foot, while Playa de Matagorda is about 3 miles away. You are therefore positioned for beach time, eating out and island drives, with the main practical services close at hand.

The apartment layout is the main reason to choose this address over a conventional hotel room. Every apartment has a twin bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette and a living room with a sofa bed, plus a terrace or balcony looking towards the gardens. For a couple, the one-bedroom layout gives you a separate place to sit, make coffee or leave the day's clothes in a heap without turning the sleeping area into a storage locker.

If you are travelling as a small group, the two-bedroom apartments give you more breathing space. The larger layouts accommodate up to six people, while other two-bedroom options are arranged for smaller groups and families. The sensible choice depends less on the label than on how many adults need an actual bedroom and how much communal sofa time you can tolerate. Each apartment has one bathroom, so a group should allow for a little morning choreography.

The kitchenette is equipped for simple self-catering: refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, electric kettle, dining table and kitchenware. That is useful for breakfast before an early start or for keeping water and snacks cold when you return tired and hungry. Air conditioning, satellite television, wardrobe space, linen, towels and a hairdryer cover the basics, while the balcony or terrace gives you somewhere to sit outside. WiFi is available throughout the property, and a safety deposit box is available for an additional charge.

The on-site restaurant serves fish, meat, pasta and vegetable dishes, so dinner can stay refreshingly uncomplicated after diving. It is the sort of menu that gives you room to choose between a proper meal and something familiar, without requiring a pre-dinner briefing from the chef. Breakfast is available in continental and buffet form.

There are two named bar areas: Bar Cafetería and Bar-Snack Terraza. The first covers the coffee-and-drink side of the day, while the terrace snack bar is the natural stop when you want something lighter without committing to a full restaurant meal. An on-site coffee house and snack bar add flexibility between meals.

The apartments also give you a kitchenette, dining area and refrigerator. That matters when your appetite arrives at an inconvenient hour, or when you want to prepare something simple rather than dress for dinner. For more variety, the surrounding streets offer restaurants within a few minutes on foot, including Café La Ola, The Galleon and El Polaco.

Two outdoor pools provide the main post-dive option, with loungers, sun umbrellas and pool towels available. You can swim a little, claim a lounger and let the day's exertion catch up with you. There is also a sun terrace, garden space and a shared lounge with television when the wind makes sitting outside less appealing.

The Wellness Center offers massage, including full-body, back, neck, head, hand and foot treatments. Body treatments, scrubs and wraps are also available, alongside beauty services such as facials, manicures and pedicures. For a diver whose shoulders have spent the day carrying more equipment than dignity, that is more relevant than another decorative water feature.

There is a games room with table tennis, and billiards is available on site. Beyond the complex, the hotel offers access to activities including windsurfing, surfing, tennis, golf, cycling, walking and cultural excursions. Horse riding, rock climbing, paragliding, parachuting, camel riding and submarine safaris are also listed among the possibilities, giving non-diving companions plenty of ways to fill a day while you are underwater.

Check-in runs from 4pm to midnight, with a photo ID and credit card required. You need to tell the property your expected arrival time in advance, particularly if your flight lands late. Check-out is available from 5am to noon, which is useful for an early airport departure or a final morning in the water followed by a sensible amount of time to pack.

The minimum check-in age is 18. Children of any age are welcome, and cots can be requested for children aged up to two, subject to the selected accommodation. There are no extra beds. Smoking and parties are not allowed, and quiet hours run from 11pm to 9am. Payment is by cash, and American Express transactions carry a surcharge.

Free public street parking is available nearby, without reservation. Car hire can be arranged at the front desk, and bicycle rental is also available. A lift, air conditioning, luggage storage, currency exchange, tour desk and 24-hour reception round off the useful services. Building improvement works are scheduled in the north wing of Block B from 13 April to 25 June 2026; the second floor and second swimming pool are affected during the works.
