The reefs of Raa Atoll are defined by their spectacular soft coral (Alcyonacea) and hard coral (Scleractinia) formations. You will frequently encounter large schools of fish, including fusiliers (Caesio), snappers (Lutjanus), and various species of trevally and jackfish. Large pelagic visitors such as manta rays (Mobula alfredi) can be observed year-round.

Predators are a regular presence on the reefs, with sightings of grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), and blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus). You may also spot eagle rays (Aetobatus) and various species of stingrays moving across the sandy patches.

Macro life and smaller residents add significant detail to the dive. Look for nudibranchs, scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), frogfish (Antennarius), and various species of wrasse (Labridae). The reef is also home to colourful inhabitants like anemonefish, butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and angelfish (Pomacanthidae), alongside moray eels (Muraenidae) tucked into the coral.
