Belouga Plongee

Located at the Quai de la Trirème in Cap d'Agde, Bélouga Plongée has been a fixture of the Occitanie diving scene since 2001. The school is uniquely positioned with a focus on the next generation, offering a specialised curriculum designed specifically for children and teenagers.

Operating from April to the end of October, the centre provides a structured approach to underwater exploration. Whether starting with a first breath underwater or working towards formal qualifications, the programme is built around autonomy and environmental awareness.

The school was founded by Julie Pastor, a State-qualified instructor and Guide de la Mer, bringing over two decades of experience to the team. The centre is staffed by two instructors who focus on delivering a personalised experience for every student.

Instruction is heavily influenced by Montessori and Freinet pedagogies, ensuring that children learn at their own pace without the pressure of standard certification hurdles. This approach is particularly suited to younger divers who may be finding their buoyancy and comfort in the water for the first time.

The centre is FFESSM affiliated and holds official accreditation as an APS Jeunesse & Sport establishment. All instruction is conducted in French.

The curriculum is extensive, ranging from initial discovery sessions to formal FFESSM certifications. For younger divers, the school offers Baby-Plongée© for ages 5 to 7, and various discovery stages such as the Mini-Bulle programme for 8 to 11-year-olds.

For those seeking formal progression, the centre provides the Niveau 1 course, as well as PE12 and PE20 qualifications. They also offer specialised training for teenagers, including Randonnée Palmée (finning) courses and various ANMP-style qualifications such as Aquaticus, Tetardo, and Explorator.

Advanced students can pursue the Formation de Cadre to move towards instructor-level training. The school's structured approach allows divers to progress through levels like Petit Plouf, Petit Plongeur, and Petit Expert.

The centre provides a full range of equipment hire, including specialised kit sized specifically for children and adolescents to ensure a proper fit. This includes wetsuits, masks, fins, and BCDs tailored to smaller frames.

Diving in this area is best enjoyed from June to September. The local conditions at Fort de Brescou are selected for their suitability for a wide range of experience levels, providing a stable environment for learning and exploration within the protected marine zone.
