Abyss Plongée

Located in the Cap d'Agde area, Abyss Plongée has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1997. The centre is positioned to provide easy access to the diverse underwater landscapes of the Mediterranean, offering both guided excursions and autonomous diving opportunities.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are an experienced diver seeking specialty training, the club provides a structured environment for learning. The centre operates from March through December, taking advantage of the seasonal shifts to offer various dive schedules throughout the year.

The team is composed of state-qualified instructors (Moniteurs Diplômés d'état) who bring professional expertise to every session. They focus on sharing technical skills and a respect for the marine environment, ensuring that safety remains the priority for every diver in the water.

Instruction is tailored to the individual, with a strict ratio of one guide per diver for guided sessions. This ensures close supervision and a personalised approach to both training and exploration dives.

The centre is an SSI affiliate, providing a clear and recognised pathway for divers to progress through their qualifications and specialty certifications.

Abyss Plongée offers a complete range of SSI training programmes. Beginners can start with a Scuba Explorer course or a Baptême de plongée, eventually progressing through the Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to specialise, the centre provides a wide array of SSI Specialty Diver courses. These include Nitrox, Wreck, Deep Diver, Night and Low Visibility, and Stress & Rescue. More advanced divers can pursue training in buoyancy control, orientation, and even technical skills like drysuit usage.

The curriculum extends to professional levels, offering pathways toward Dive Guide and Dive Master. They also provide skill updates and upgrades for divers looking to transition between different certification levels.

The Aloha is a 9.5m aluminium vedette equipped with twin motors, specifically designed to provide comfort and stability for diving groups. This vessel serves as the primary platform for daily excursions and night dives.

The boat is configured to handle regular dive sorties, allowing for efficient movement between sites. It provides a reliable base for both daytime exploration and evening sessions under the water.

The shore-based facilities include a spacious 100 m² centre equipped with a dedicated classroom space for theory and briefing. Divers can make use of the changing rooms, sanitary facilities, and a shower room with hot water to rinse off after a dive.

For those requiring kit, the centre offers full rental including wetsuits, regulators, BCDs, masks, and fins. They utilise high-quality equipment from Cressi, and all compressors and gear are regularly maintained by professionals.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The centre also provides technical equipment for those undertaking specific training, such as drysuit courses.

The centre operates primarily from March to December. Diving schedules and trip frequencies vary depending on the season, with increased availability and more frequent departures during the summer months of July and August. Weather conditions naturally dictate the daily schedule, with the team adjusting departures to ensure safe and productive diving sessions.
