Hotel Alata, now presented as Cas’Alata, is a small village hotel with a history going back to 1984 and a renovation completed in 2025. The old name may still appear in travel searches, while the place itself has moved on with fresher interiors and the same address in Alata village.

You come here for a straightforward Corsican base: a balcony, a view, air conditioning and somewhere to sit down for a proper meal. The atmosphere is more village hotel than large resort, which suits you if you would rather have the Gulf of Ajaccio in front of you than a timetable of organised entertainment. The website is available in English, French and Italian, so you can at least check the essentials in a language that suits you before travelling.

The hotel stands in Alata, on the hills behind Ajaccio in Corsica. It is not a beachfront address: Lazaret Beach is about 5 miles away by road, with Saint Francois Beach at roughly the same distance. A car therefore makes the coastal part of the stay considerably easier, particularly if your plans involve beaches, marina departures or several stops in one day.

Ajaccio is close enough for an evening or a cultural detour. The marina is a 13-minute drive away, while the Fesch Museum is about 6 miles from the hotel and Ajaccio Cathedral around a 17-minute drive. The Citadelle and the Chapelle Impériale are also in the Ajaccio area, so you can combine sea time with a little history without turning the day into an expedition.

The nearest railway stations are Les Salines, about 3 miles away, and Ajaccio station, about 3.5 miles away. Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport is roughly 7 miles from the hotel, around a 16-minute drive.

The rooms are arranged for the practical end of a holiday rather than for grand hotel theatrics. A Double or Twin Room is the natural choice for two, with the option of a double bed or twin arrangement. If you are travelling with family, the Family Room and the larger sleeping arrangements make more sense than trying to turn a couple’s room into a storage puzzle. Triple rooms cover the in-between case, with a double bed and a single bed.

Every room has air conditioning, a balcony and a view. That balcony gives you a place to take the day slowly, while the air conditioning matters when the Corsican heat has followed you back indoors. A flat-screen TV, radio, telephone, desk and wardrobe cover the basics without pretending the room is an apartment.

After a long day outside, that is the useful distinction: you can eat without having to get back into the car and start searching for dinner.

Breakfast is continental, and breakfast in your room is available when a slow start suits you better. There is also a bar for the drink that tends to become more important once the boots are off and the day’s plans have stopped making demands.

The dining offer is deliberately compact: breakfast, a Corsican-leaning meal and a bar, rather than a collection of venues requiring its own map. The terrace adds the pleasant bit of theatre, with the Gulf of Ajaccio providing the view while you work out whether one drink has somehow become two.

The terrace and the room balconies are the hotel’s most obvious places for doing very little, which is often exactly the assignment. You can sit outside with a drink, watch the light change across the Gulf of Ajaccio and let the air conditioning deal with the warmer part of the day indoors. There is no need to turn every afternoon into an activity simply because you are technically awake.

When you want to leave the balcony, Ajaccio supplies the useful alternatives. The Fesch Museum, the cathedral, the Citadelle and the Chapelle Impériale give you several manageable cultural stops, while the nearby beaches provide a change from village views to salt water. Saint-Joseph forest is about 6 miles away by road for a greener outing.

For couples, this location works particularly well for alternating active mornings with unhurried afternoons: a drive towards the coast, a meal on the terrace, then a balcony and a view. Pets are also welcome on request, which makes the hotel a more practical option if your travelling party has four legs as well as two.

Free private parking is available on site, and no reservation is needed. That is useful in Alata, where having the car close by simplifies trips to the beaches, Ajaccio marina and the airport. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, so you can deal with the necessary messages without giving up the balcony.

The normal check-in window runs from 16:00 to 20:30, while check-out is from 02:30 to 11:00. If you expect to arrive after 19:00, contact the hotel in advance. The front desk operates around the clock, but the stated arrival window still matters for planning your journey.
