Stella Marina is a 15-unit tourist residence in Macinaggio, built around mini-villas and larger villas rather than a single hotel block. That gives you a more self-contained base for a diving holiday: air conditioning, a private entrance and a terrace or balcony, with somewhere to sit once the wetsuit has stopped dripping and the day has finally slowed down.

The mood is straightforward and practical. You have a garden, an outdoor swimming pool, sun loungers and a hot tub, while the beach is close enough to make a proper swim or a quiet hour by the water an easy choice. Couples can keep things simple in a room or smaller villa; anyone wanting more elbow room and the ability to prepare food has the larger villa format.

You are in Macinaggio, northern Corsica, on the Cap Corse peninsula, in the commune of Rogliano. The residence sits by the sea and around 0.05 miles from the beach, with direct access to a pale sandy shore bordered by maquis. Macinaggio’s marina is nearby, with regular boat traffic giving the waterfront more life than a purely residential seaside corner.

For a change of scene, La Marine de Tomino Beach is about 0.8 miles away, Tamarone Beach about 1.1 miles, and Sainte Marie Beach about 1.9 miles. The historic village of Rogliano lies above the valley and is worth putting on your walking or driving list. It is the sort of outing that gives a non-diving day a purpose without demanding an expedition.

You also have practical choices for eating close by. Pailotte U Padulu is about 0.2 miles away, while Pizzeria la Galère and Restaurant U Culombu are each about 0.3 miles from the residence. Bastia is roughly 22 miles away, so Macinaggio gives you the northern-Corsica setting without cutting you off from the island’s main town.

The choice is really between a straightforward room and a villa with more independence. Rooms suit a couple who want a simple base with a proper private bathroom, a large bed, air conditioning, satellite television and free Wi-Fi. Each room has a balcony, so you can get outside without turning the whole evening into a production.

The villas add the useful bits for a longer diving stay: a kitchen and a seating area. The Standard Villa is the sensible middle ground for two people who want more room to spread out, while the Superior Villa is the one to consider when space matters or several people are travelling together. It has the roomiest layout in the accommodation range, with an additional toilet as well as its bathroom.

Bedrooms have a wardrobe or closet, and the accommodation includes a shower, towels and a hairdryer. Ground-floor units are available, including rooms suitable for guests with reduced mobility. Hardwood or parquet floors, non-smoking accommodation and private entrances keep the arrangements uncomplicated. Air conditioning matters here for a very practical reason: it gives you a cooler room when the Corsican heat and a full day outdoors have taken their toll.

Breakfast is available on request, rather than presented as a fixed daily dining routine. That suits an early start if you prefer to arrange the first meal around your plans, but you will want to confirm the details before booking if breakfast is important to your schedule.

There is one bar at the residence. No restaurant or room service is listed on site, so the kitchen in the villas becomes useful for anyone who prefers to sort out a meal without heading back out. In a room, the nearby restaurants do the work instead: Pailotte U Padulu is the closest named option, with Pizzeria la Galère and Restaurant U Culombu also within about 0.3 miles.

This is therefore a base for choosing your evening, not a full-board operation. You can have a drink at the hotel bar, walk towards the harbour for dinner, or use the villa’s seating area and kitchen when the prospect of dressing up after a long day underwater feels faintly ridiculous.

The outdoor pool gives you an easy alternative to the sea, especially when you want a few quiet lengths without sand in every pocket. Around it, sun loungers and parasols provide the obvious place to read, dry off or do absolutely nothing. The garden adds another outdoor space, while the hot tub gives you a warmer option when the evening cools.

If sitting still becomes too ambitious, the property lists canoeing, windsurfing, fishing and water-sports facilities on site, as well as a tennis court. These are useful choices for a couple travelling together when one person wants to stay active and the other has already reached the horizontal stage of the holiday.

Cultural excursions are also part of the offer, and Rogliano gives you a clear destination for one of them. Nearby beaches provide further options for swimming and shoreline time, including Tamarone and La Marine de Tomino. Nothing here requires you to turn a rest day into an organised programme; the point is that you can fill it in several different ways.

Bastia-Poretta Airport is about 34 miles away by road, with the residence located north of Bastia. On-site parking is available free of charge, and private parking is also part of the residence’s facilities. Parking cannot be reserved, so a driving arrival is best treated as first come, first served rather than a numbered space waiting with your name on it.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 20:00, and check-out is by 11:00. The minimum age for check-in is 18. Express check-in and check-out are available, which can help when you are arriving with luggage, dive bags and the usual collection of damp clothing that somehow multiplies during a trip.

Children over one year old are welcome. Cots can be requested for children aged one to five, while extra beds are not available. Children aged three and over are charged as adults at the property. Pets under 10 kg are accepted on request, and parties or similar events are not allowed. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and the accommodation is non-smoking.
