AluaSun Cala Antena is an all-inclusive seaside hotel built for uncomplicated days: breakfast, a swim, a few hours by the water, then dinner without having to negotiate the evening. The hotel has a lively holiday rhythm rather than a hideaway atmosphere. Daytime entertainment, live music and evening shows are part of the programme, so you can expect something happening around the property after dinner. The team speaks English, German, Spanish and French, which makes the practical conversations considerably easier when you arrive tired, sun-warmed and carrying more dive kit than sensible luggage.

You are in Calas de Mallorca, on the east coast of Mallorca, with the hotel set directly by the sea between Cala Antena and Cala Domingos. Cala Antena is the closest cove, while Cala Domingos Gran is about 0.8 miles away on foot. Cala Domingos Petit is about 0.9 miles away, and Cala Murada is roughly 1.4 miles distant.

The setting is a clifftop one, surrounded by more than 25,000 square metres of forest. You have a golden-sand beach directly accessible from the property, with sun loungers and parasols for the part of the day when a deck chair sounds more appealing than another excursion.

For food and a change of scene, several restaurants, cafés and bars are within roughly 0.3 to 0.5 miles. Manacor railway station is about 11 miles away by road, while Palma de Mallorca Airport is around 34 miles from the hotel by road.

The room choice is mainly about how you want to spend the hours when you are not in the water. A standard Double Room keeps things straightforward for a couple, while the pool-view and sea-view versions let you choose which part of the resort scenery you would rather have from your balcony. The Family Room adds two sofa beds to the sleeping arrangement and is the practical option when everyone needs to stay under one roof.

Air conditioning matters here, particularly when the day has involved warm water, salt and a full load of sun. Rooms also have a private bathroom with a bath, a balcony, free WiFi and daily housekeeping. The sofa beds give the family category some flexibility, although the room information is presented for a maximum of two guests, so you will want to check the exact arrangement before booking for a larger group.

The 2023 renovation gives the property a relatively recent reference point, but the useful detail for a diver is simpler: you can return to an air-conditioned room, shower, put your feet up on the balcony and let the all-inclusive timetable take over. A flat-screen TV and telephone are there if the evening ends earlier than planned.

The all-inclusive plan covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the main meal service built around an international buffet and show cooking. That gives you the sort of flexibility that works well around diving: you can put together a proper plate when you come back hungry, rather than relying on a single fixed menu.

There is also a themed Italian restaurant for dinner, giving you a change from the main buffet without leaving the property. Special-diet menus are available on request. The breakfast is served buffet-style, which is useful when you need coffee, food and a decision about the day in that order.

Two bars keep the drinks side of the operation simple. The Pool Bar sits beside the swimming pool and concentrates on cocktails; the Lobby Bar does the same in the entrance area. There is also a snack bar, although no continuous-snacking timetable is given, so you should not plan your day around an assumed late-night feed.

The main outdoor pool is the centre of the non-beach action, with an integrated bar for the moment when getting out of the water feels unnecessarily energetic. A separate children’s pool, gardens, sun terrace, loungers and parasols give you several places to settle with a book, a drink or the familiar post-dive expression of somebody who has just discovered gravity again.

For a little movement without turning the holiday into a training camp, you have a fitness room, fitness classes, yoga classes, aerobics, table tennis and billiards. Billiards carries an additional charge. The kids’ club is aimed at children aged four to twelve, with children’s entertainment, a playground and a children’s menu available for family stays.

The programme continues into the evening with entertainment staff, live music and night shows. That suits couples who want some life around them after dinner, while the gardens and pool area offer an easier place to stop when the day has already done enough.

Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out runs until 12:00. You need photo identification and a payment card at arrival, and the hotel asks you to provide your expected arrival time in advance. A 24-hour reception, luggage storage, concierge service, tour desk and on-site cash machine cover the useful bits around travel days.

WiFi is free throughout the hotel. Public parking is available nearby, with no reservation possible, and car hire can be arranged through the property. Laundry and ironing services are available, while a minimarket and drinks vending machine are useful for the small things that somehow become urgent once you are back from the beach.

Children of all ages are welcome, and there is no age requirement for check-in. Dogs weighing under 10 kilograms are accepted in the rooms and grounds, subject to the required room category and availability.
