Poito - la bouée is a prominent reef pass dive that immediately immerses you into the characteristic flow of Tikehau's waters. As you descend, the reef slopes away, revealing a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life. Typically, this dive unfolds as a drift, allowing the current to guide you through the pass, providing an effortless journey past coral formations where groupers and snappers find refuge.

The topography of Poito - la bouée is defined by its pass structure, acting as a natural conduit for nutrient-rich waters that sustain its diverse marine inhabitants. This funnelling effect makes it a prime location for observing large pelagic schools. Keep your eyes out for the impressive Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus), often seen cruising along the reef edge, their distinctive humps a clear identifier.
