English, German, Russian and Arabic are spoken by the hotel team. That matters when you are discussing an early breakfast, a room request or the small practical details that become surprisingly important after a day in salt water. The atmosphere is designed around staying on site, with gardens, beach areas, evening shows and places to sit down for a drink without needing to arrange transport every time.

Couples can keep things simple with a beach-facing room, a drink at Bella Vista and dinner by the sea. Families have a kids' club, children's entertainment and a water park to occupy the younger members of the expedition. Travelling with a larger family group brings the 300-square-metre beach-front villa into play, with three bathrooms and room for up to six guests. That is the one for people who do not enjoy negotiating cupboard space before breakfast.

Sand Bar keeps things by the beach; Tropicana is the pool bar; Bella Vista offers 360-degree views over the Red Sea and lagoon; and Zaitouna Lounge overlooks the adults-only Zaitouna Pool, with Egyptian and western hot and cold drinks plus shisha. Rose Bar and Lounge adds coffee in the morning, cocktails and wine in the evening, while Harry's Pub has big screens, billiards and darts. Fancy Flamingo, The Dance Club and Sunset Bar take care of later hours, with live entertainment and music on the programme.

Three swimming pools, a children's pool and an aqua park give the resort a fairly clear answer to the question of what to do when you are not diving. The private beach has loungers and parasols, while the gardens and sun terrace provide alternatives when you have had enough sand in your sandals. The Zaitouna Pool is reserved for adults, giving you a quieter option within a property that also caters strongly to families.
