Diving Marsa Alam | Diving Center Ssi, Padi, Cmas.

Located in Tondoba Bay, about 14 km south of Marsa Alam, Diving Marsa Alam has been operating since 1993. This established centre serves as a gateway to some of the most significant diving locations in the Red Sea, providing a base for both local exploration and extended safaris.

You can choose between daily excursions for two dives or longer liveaboard trips to explore the northern or southern reaches of the Red Sea. Whether you are looking for a shallow reef flat or a deep wall, the centre provides the logistics and expertise required for a professional diving experience.

The centre operates with a focus on small group sizes and experienced instructors to ensure a professional environment. They are fully affiliated with PADI and CMAS, covering a wide range of certification levels.

Instruction is available in English and German, making it accessible for international divers. Their course offerings range from the Junior Open Water Diver for beginners to professional-level training such as the Divemaster course.

The training curriculum is comprehensive, catering to all experience levels through PADI and CMAS certifications. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver courses, while those looking to advance can pursue the Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, or Wreck Diver specialties.

For professional progression, the centre offers the Divemaster course. Technical and specialty training also includes Nitrox, Night Diver, and EFR courses.

The centre provides full kit hire, with a focus on maintaining sterile equipment for all divers. For those preferring to bring their own gear, a full range of rental equipment is available on-site.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time, and the centre is equipped to handle various training and recreational needs.

The reefs here are teeming with diverse marine life. You can expect to encounter various species of sharks, including hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna), oceanic whitetip sharks (Carcharhinus longimanus), and grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos). Large pelagics such as tuna (Thunnus) and barracuda (Sphyraena) are also frequently seen in the water column.

On the reef and seagrass beds, you will find a variety of turtles, including green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata). Rays and various species of groupers (Epinephelinae) are also common residents of these habitats.

The seafloor is home to a rich variety of invertebrates and smaller creatures, including octopus (Octopoda) and various species of shrimp (Caridea). Look closely to find seahorses (Hippocampus) and nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani) amongst the reef structure.

Fixed life is abundant, with many species of soft corals (Alcyonacea) and gorgonians (Gorgonacea) decorating the walls. You will also see various anemones, sponges (Porifera), and hard corals (Scleractinia) that form the backbone of the reef ecosystem.

Divers should be prepared for frequent and sometimes strong currents, particularly when visiting Elphinstone Reef. Visibility in the area typically ranges from 7 to 25 metres.
