Emperor Divers Wadi Sabarah is situated within the Wadi Sabarah Botanical Lodge & Gardens, a peaceful retreat built from repurposed fossilised coral limestone. This location offers a unique sense of isolation and calm, designed to sit in harmony with the surrounding natural environment. It is an ideal base for those looking to combine a relaxed stay with serious diving.

The centre is positioned less than 45 minutes from Marsa Alam airport, with transport organised directly by the team. For those arriving via Hurghada, transfers are available to reach the lodge. The proximity to the water means your accommodation is only a few metres from the dive operations.

As a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre, the facility is equipped to handle everything from initial training to professional instructor development. The team is multilinguistic, with instructors and guides capable of communicating in English, German, French, Italian, and Arabic.

The staff manages all aspects of your trip, including airport transfers and logistics for various dive sites. Whether you are completing your first Open Water Diver course or working towards your Divemaster certification, the professional standard is maintained across all levels of instruction.

The training programme covers the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver courses, while more experienced divers can progress through Rescue Diver and Divemaster training.

As an Instructor Development Centre, the facility also hosts IDC programmes. Specialist training is available for those looking to expand their skills, including PADI Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and various PADI Specialty courses. A 'Learn to Dive' guarantee is also in place, offering a refund if a diver decides not to continue after their first day of training.

The centre utilises several vessels to reach different dive locations. The Empress Isa is moored at the Equinox jetty, providing efficient access to Sha’ab Abu Dabab and Elphinstone. For those heading to Elphinstone, speedboats are also available for quicker transit.

Day excursions are also organised via Port Ghalib using the boats Emperor Amy and Skye. These trips allow you to reach various bays and reefs throughout the region. For those booking liveaboards through the Emperor organisation, such as the Emperor Elite or Emperor Asmaa, Nitrox is provided at no extra cost subject to availability.

The centre offers a complete range of equipment hire for divers who do not wish to travel with their own kit. This includes regulators, wetsuits, fins, and torches for night diving.

Nitrox is available for use on site. For those opting for the Emperor liveaboard itineraries, the organisation provides several advantages, including the option of 15-litre cylinders.

The reefs are characterised by a rich tapestry of hard corals (Scleractinia), soft corals (Alcyonacea), gorgonians, and various colourful sponges. You will find a high density of reef fish, including colourful corals, anemonefish, butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and various species of wrasse (Labridae).

Macro life enthusiasts can look for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), stonefish (Synanceia), and frogfish (Antennarius) often hide amongst the reef structure, while octopuses (Octopus vulgaris) and cuttlefish (Sepiidae) inhabit the crevices.

In the open water and along the walls, larger species are frequently sighted. You may encounter various sharks, including Whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), Grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), and Silky sharks. Pelagic sightings can include Eagle rays (Aetobatus), Manta rays (Mobula alfredi), and various species of tuna (Thunnus).

Divers should be aware that unpredictable and strong currents can occur at any time in the Red Sea. At certain sites like Elphinstone, Daedalus, or Rocky Island, currents can be particularly powerful, and the dive director may advise certain divers to skip a dive if they do not feel comfortable.

While many sites are accessible via the house reef or short minibus trips to calm bays, the offshore sites often require more experience to navigate safely in the prevailing conditions.
