Extra Divers Equinoxe

Extra Divers Equinoxe is situated on the beach of a wide bay within the Three Corners Equinox Beach Resort in Marsa Alam. The centre's position allows for seamless transitions from the resort to the water, with all boat departures taking place directly from the complex's private jetty.

The local waters are renowned for their diversity, ranging from shallow reef flats and seagrass meadows to dramatic offshore walls. Whether you are exploring the nearby coral gardens or heading out on a full-day boat trip to more remote sites, the area offers a vast variety of underwater landscapes.

The centre is managed by Mohamed and a multilingual team capable of assisting divers in English, German, Italian, and Arabic. This diversity in communication ensures that both technical instructions and recreational guidance are clearly understood by an international clientele.

Training is conducted under the standards of SSI and CMAS, with a range of programmes available from beginner levels to professional qualifications. The centre also hosts dedicated diving courses for children starting from age eight.

For those looking to advance their careers, the centre offers Pro-NRC training. There are also specific programmes designed for younger divers to encourage an early interest in the underwater world.

The centre maintains a well-equipped shore base featuring an internal workshop and large rinsing tanks for your kit. For those choosing to hire, there is a full range of equipment available, including modern Aqua Lung sets.

Cylinders are provided in 12-litre and 15-litre aluminium volumes, with both DIN and INT connections available. Nitrox is provided for all certified divers. The facility also offers underwater camera rentals for those looking to document their dives.

The local marine life is exceptionally diverse, with the house reef and surrounding areas hosting green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), eagle rays (Aetobatus), and various species of rays (Batoidea). You will frequently encounter large barracudas (Sphyraena barracuda), moray eels (Muraenidae), and various reef fish swimming through the coral gardens.

The deeper walls and offshore sites like Elphinstone are the primary locations for seeing larger pelagics. These include hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna lewini), oceanic whitetip sharks (Carcharhinus longimanus), and grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos).

In the seagrass meadows, keep a lookout for the dugong (Dugong dugon) and various sea turtles (Cheloniidae). The sandy patches and reef edges are also home to stingrays, octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and various species of snapper (Lutjanus).

For those interested in macro life, the reefs host a variety of smaller creatures such as seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and many species of nudibranch. You may also spot various types of anemonefish, butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and diverse soft corals (Alcyonacea) and hard corals (Scleractinia) that provide a home for much of the local fauna.
