The reefs around Marsa Alam are defined by a vast array of coral life. You will encounter various species of soft corals (Alcyonacea) and gorgonians (Gorgonacea), alongside hard corals (Scleractinia), table corals, and fan corals (Gorgoniidae).

Large pelagic species are a highlight of the region. You may encounter various sharks, including the grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), the silky shark (Carcharhinus falciformis), and the hammerhead shark (Sphyrna).
