Wanderlust Blue

Located in Marsa Alam, Wanderlust Blue is built on a philosophy of sustainable diving and deep respect for the Red Sea's marine life. The centre provides access to a vast array of dive sites, stretching from the northern reaches near Port Ghalib down to the southern sites around Abu Ghusun.

Whether you are looking for the adrenaline of an offshore drift dive or the calm of a shallow reef flat, the centre organises trips to cover the full diversity of the local environment. The atmosphere is relaxed and professional, designed for divers who value small groups and tailored advice.

The team at Wanderlust Blue is known for a friendly, helpful approach, ensuring an organised experience for both novices and seasoned divers. All training programmes are conducted under SSI (Scuba Schools International) standards, maintaining a consistent level of instruction.

The centre caters to a wide range of divers, including a dedicated Kids Program for younger enthusiasts. For those looking to turn their passion into a profession, the centre offers the full progression of professional training, including Dive Guide and Divemaster courses.

Wanderlust Blue offers a comprehensive curriculum of SSI courses. Beginners can start with Try Scuba, Basic Diver, or Scuba Diver, eventually progressing to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

Speciality training is extensive, covering Enriched Air Nitrox, Deep Diver Specialty, Night Diving Specialty, and Boat Diver Specialty. For those refining their skills, a Scuba Review is available. The centre also provides professional training for Dive Guide and Divemaster levels, alongside Freediving programmes ranging from Basic Freediver to full Freediver certifications.

The centre organises boat trips that cover a wide variety of environments, including half-day excursions and full-day trips. For full-day excursions, lunch is provided on board, while half-day trips include snacks.

Boat trips include non-alcoholic drinks and a snorkeling guide to assist those exploring the surface. The excursions also include the necessary national park tickets and transfers from your accommodation.

A full range of rental kit is available on-site for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, and torches for night diving. SMBs are also available for hire.

Nitrox is available for use, making it a practical base for those looking to extend their bottom times on multi-dive days.

The area is a haven for large marine life. You can regularly encounter Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), Dugong (Dugong dugon), and various species of Dolphin (Delphinidae), including long-beaked dolphins. Rays (Batoidea) and various sharks (Selachimorpha) are also part of the local ecosystem.

On the reef, look for a high diversity of fish including Parrotfish (Calotomus), Clownfish (Amphiprion), and various groupers (Epinephelus). You will also see plenty of colourful reef fish, including species of Wrasse (Labridae), Snapper (Lutjanus), and Butterflyfish (Chaetodon).

For macro enthusiasts, the reefs host a variety of smaller creatures such as octopuses (Octopus vulgaris), Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), and various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani). Keep a close eye on the corals and sponges for scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), stonefish (Synanceia), and various species of shrimp (Caridea).

The seabed and reef structures are built from a stunning array of life, including hard corals (Scleractinia), soft corals (Alcyonacea), gorgonians (Gorgoniidae), and various colourful sponges (Porifera).

The best time to visit is between April and June, or September and November, when the water is warm and the air temperature is more moderate. During these periods, marine life is particularly active.

Site conditions vary significantly depending on whether you are diving the offshore reefs or the sheltered bays. While many of the Marsa bays offer calm, easy conditions, offshore sites like Elphinstone can be subject to more significant conditions.
