Sea Hawk Divers

Located in the heart of Isla Mujeres Centro, Sea Hawk Divers has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1985. What began as a small mask and snorkel rental operation has evolved into a comprehensive dive centre and multi-activity hub, managed now by the second generation of the founding family.

The centre is ideally positioned for those wanting to stay near the ferry terminal and the shops of the island, while remaining only a few steps from the sands of Playa Norte. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or seeking specific drift or wreck dives, the operation is built on decades of local knowledge.

The team is composed of experienced, bilingual guides, including PADI and SDI instructors, Divemasters, and local captains. This ensures that communication is clear and that the technical aspects of your dive are handled professionally, whether you are a novice or an advanced diver.

As a family-run business, there is a personal approach to service and a strong emphasis on marine conservation. The staff maintains a high standard of hygiene, regularly disinfecting all equipment and boats to ensure safety and reliability for every diver.

Sea Hawk Divers provides training through both PADI and SDI affiliations. You can start your journey with an Open Water Diver course or progress through Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications.

For those looking to turn a hobby into a career, the centre offers Divemaster training. They also facilitate referral programmes for divers who have completed their confined water sessions and four open water dives elsewhere and need to complete their remaining requirements locally.

The centre operates two different styles of vessels to suit different needs. You can head out on a 29ft panga-style fishing boat for more traditional trips, or opt for the 31ft fishing yacht, which features outriggers and an onboard bathroom for added comfort.

Trips range from single-tank night dives to two-tank drift dives and wreck explorations. For those looking for something more exclusive, private reef dive trips are available for groups of up to six people.

A full range of diving equipment is available for hire, including masks, fins, and wetsuits. The shop is also equipped with a variety of snorkeling gear and eco-friendly sun protection products for those spending time on the surface.

For those staying on-site, the Sea Hawk Suites offer air-conditioned accommodation with amenities such as Wi-Fi, refrigerators, and coffee makers, making it easy to rest and organise your kit between dives.

The reefs around Isla Mujeres are teeming with life, including parrotfish, damselfish, sergeant majors, and French angelfish. You will often see larger pelagics like great barracuda patrolling the blue, alongside various species of grunts.

In the sandy areas and reef crevices, keep a sharp eye out for the octopus. If you visit between May and September, you may have the chance to encounter whale sharks during their seasonal migration through the area.

For those interested in the smaller inhabitants, the reefs host a variety of marine life including various species of sea turtles, especially around Punta Sur during their breeding seasons.

The area is known for its drift diving, particularly at sites like Punta Negra and Banderas, where the current carries you along the reef. These sites are recommended for advanced divers who are comfortable managing movement in a current.

Seasonal activity is a key factor for planning, especially if you are looking to swim with whale sharks, which is most common from May to September.
