Riu Caribe - All Inclusive is built for a holiday where the sea, the buffet and the pool all sit within easy reach. You have direct access to a white-sand beach, three pools, gardens and several places to eat and drink, so the daily decisions are pleasantly limited: water, food, shade, or another swim.

The resort works for families, with a kids' club for children aged 4 to 12, children's entertainment and a playground. Couples can also choose an adults-only Riu Party room, while the two-bedroom options give larger groups somewhere to sleep without turning the holiday into a careful exercise in bed allocation.

Evenings have their own rhythm, with live music and performances, themed dinner nights, sport shown live and entertainment staff on hand. It is a sizeable all-inclusive resort rather than a small hideaway. That suits you if you want plenty happening around the property and the convenience of having meals, snacks and several bars in the same place.

You are on the seafront in Cancún, with the hotel opening directly onto a white-sand beach. Langosta Beach is about 150 metres away, while Tortuga Beach is roughly 0.7 miles from the property. Playa Linda is about 1 mile away, giving you a few nearby alternatives when you fancy a change of shoreline.

The setting keeps you in the hotel zone rather than the centre of Cancún. Coco Bongo is about 2 miles away, and the city bus station is roughly 4.5 miles from the resort. Parque las Palapas, the urban park in central Cancún, is about 4 miles away by road.

For a day away from the beach, the Mayan Museum is around 7 miles away and El Rey Mayan ruins about 7 miles away. Isla Mujeres, Isla Holbox, the archaeological museum, the Turtle Conservation Centre, a water park and the pyramids of Kukulkán are among the excursions available through the resort's wider holiday programme.

The practical baseline is straightforward: air conditioning, a balcony, a private bathroom with shower, a minibar, Wi-Fi and a flat-screen television. After a hot day outdoors, the air conditioning and a cold drink from the minibar do the useful work. The balconies give you somewhere to sit without having to go back downstairs into the full resort routine.

For two people, the Deluxe Double Room keeps things simple with a king-size bed, while the Junior Suite with Ocean View adds more room and a private bathroom. If the view matters more than clever naming, the Ocean View and Sea View rooms put the Caribbean into the part of the holiday where you are doing very little at all.

Travelling with family or a larger dive group calls for one of the two-bedroom rooms. The Ocean View version accommodates up to six people, while the Ocean Front version accommodates up to four. That is the sensible route when you want separate sleeping areas rather than relying on sofa beds or extra beds, which are not part of the room policy. The Riu Party adults-only room is reserved for guests aged 18 and over and brings a more deliberately lively angle to the stay.

All-inclusive is the working principle here, with buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner available across the resort's restaurant offer. Breakfast is American-style and buffet-based, with hot dishes and fresh pastries. Six restaurants are part of the property, including the named Albatros, Maria Margarita, Shangri-la, Pizzeria and Gaviotas.

Maria Margarita brings Mexican cooking to the table, Shangri-la handles Asian dishes, and Gaviotas is beside the pool with a restaurant and steakhouse format. The Pizzeria is the obvious answer when you want something familiar after a day that involved more exertion than planned. Albatros covers all three main meals, keeping the logistics pleasantly dull in the best possible way.

There is also 24-hour snacking, which matters when your own timetable refuses to respect normal meal times. Five bars cover different moods: Frida in the lobby, Calypso as a lounge bar, a sports bar, Kahlo and a pool bar with swim-up service. A beach bar completes the picture, so you do not have to dress for civilisation every time you want a drink.

Three pools give you a choice between water and more water, while the beach adds sun loungers, parasols and a beach bar directly beside the white sand. Pool and beach towels are available. If the day's plan is simply to read, swim and repeat, the resort does not make that difficult.

Renova Spa is the place for a more deliberate reset, with massages, facials, a hammam, sauna and jacuzzi. Spa facilities, a relaxation area, beauty services and wellness packages are available. Massage and spa treatments carry an additional charge, so the all-inclusive label does not turn every treatment into a free extra.

The fitness centre offers fitness classes, and the property also has tennis, golf, billiards, bicycle rental, kayaking and snorkelling. Water-sports facilities are on site. For evenings, you have live music, performances, themed dinners and entertainment, while the tour desk can help arrange outings to Isla Mujeres, Isla Holbox, the pyramids of Kukulkán and other listed attractions. Families have the kids' club, children's entertainment, a playground and a children's pool.

Cancún International Airport is about 13 miles away, with the journey by car listed at roughly 20 minutes. The resort has a 24-hour front desk, concierge service, tour desk, currency exchange, an on-site cash machine and luggage storage. Car hire is available, and free private parking is provided on site.

Check-in runs from 3 pm until midnight. You need photo identification and a payment card on arrival, and cash is not accepted at the property. Check-out is by noon. Cancellation and prepayment conditions vary according to the accommodation category, so the room you choose matters beyond its view and bed arrangement.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and daily housekeeping is included. Laundry is available as a paid service. Children of any age are welcome, but cots and extra beds are not available, which makes the two-bedroom rooms the more useful choice for larger parties. Pets are not allowed, and bookings covering more than five rooms may follow different conditions.
