Rainbow Reef Dive Center is situated in the Upper Keys, a short drive from Miami, providing direct access to the diverse underwater topography of the Florida Keys. As a PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre, the facility is positioned to support divers at every stage of their journey, from initial certifications to professional instructor training.

The centre's operations revolve around boat-based excursions that cover an array of environments, including expansive coral reefs, artificial reefs, deep walls, and historic wrecks. These sites typically range in depth from 18 to 120 feet, offering varied opportunities for exploration across the region.

As a PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre, the facility is geared towards high-level training and professional progression. The curriculum is designed to take divers through the entire PADI hierarchy, including Divemaster and Instructor-level pathways.

The centre is a Blue Star Sanctuary, reflecting a commitment to the local marine environment. All diving trips include guides, ensuring professional supervision on every excursion.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering all PADI certification levels. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, progressing through Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver, towards the Master Scuba Diver rating.

For those pursuing a professional career, the centre offers training for Divemaster, Open Water Scuba Instructor, and beyond, up to Course Director. Specialist training is also available, including Nitrox and Avelo certifications, such as the Recreational Avelo Diver (RAD) course.

The centre operates a custom fleet of vessels capable of carrying up to 36 divers per trip. These boats are equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing you to stay connected while out on the water.

Excursions include day trips to various sites, with specific afternoon wreck dives scheduled during the weekends. Nitrox is available on board for those requiring extended bottom times.

A full range of rental kit is available on-site, including BCDs, regulators, masks, fins, snorkels, and wetsuits. For those requiring more specialised equipment, dive computers and torches are also available for hire.

Nitrox is provided for divers, with the option to use it on a per-cylinder basis. The centre also provides weights and cylinders as part of the standard diving excursion.

The reefs are home to a vast array of tropical fish and large schools of reef fish. You will frequently encounter species such as Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and various species of Snappers (Lutjanidae), including schoolmaster snapper and yellow snappers. Grunts (Haemulidae), such as French grunts, and various species of Jacks (Carangidae) are also common residents of the reef.

Larger pelagics and predators move through the area, including Caribbean reef shark (Carcharhinus perezi), Reef shark (Carcharhinus), and occasional bull sharks. You may also spot Amberjack (Seriola), Barracuda (Sphyraena), and horse-eye jacks. For those watching the sandy bottom or ledges, Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus), Spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari), and Eagle ray (Aetobatus) are regular visitors.

Sea turtles are a significant feature of the local waters, with sightings of Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), and other sea turtles (Cheloniidae) common. The seabed and reef structures are further populated by various corals, Sponges (Porifera), and Christmas tree tubeworms.

In the crevices and under ledges, you can find more specialised life including Moray eel (Muraenidae), such as the Green moray (Gymnothorax funebris), and various species of Grouper (Epinephelinae), including Nassau groupers, black groupers, and Goliath grouper (Epinephelus itajara). Macro life and smaller inhabitants include various species of Shrimp (Caridea), Goby (Gobiidae), and coral crabs.

The diving area features a variety of depths, with sites ranging from 18 to 120 feet. Divers should note that any dives exceeding 60 feet require an Advanced Open Water certification.
