Sea Dwellers Dive Center

Located in Key Largo, Sea Dwellers Dive Center has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1974. As a family-owned operation, they bring over 50 years of experience to the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, providing access to some of the most renowned dive sites in the region.

The centre operates with a professional local crew and three instructors, maintaining a guided diver-to-guide ratio of 6:1. This ensures that even in larger groups, you receive the personalised attention required for safe and educational diving.

As a PADI 5-Star centre, they offer a comprehensive range of training from entry-level courses to professional instructor training. They also cater to those needing a skills refresher, offering both Scuba Refresher Pool Courses and Scuba Diving Refresher courses for those who have been away from the water for a year or more.

The training programme is extensive, covering both PADI and SDI certifications. For beginners, they offer Open Water Diver and Discover Scuba Diving, with options to upgrade through the PADI Open Water Upgrade.

The reefs are teeming with a vast array of colourful fish, including various species of Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), Parrotfish (Calotomus), and snapper schools. You will frequently encounter grunts, goatfish, spadefish, and large schools of reef fish moving through the coral structures.

For those watching the larger residents, the area is home to Caribbean reef sharks (Carcharhinus), Nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum), and occasional bull sharks. You may also spot Eagle ray (Aetobatus) and southern stingrays (Hypanus americanus) gliding along the sandy bottom.

Macro life and crustaceans are abundant throughout the sanctuary. Look for Spiny lobster (Palinuridae), various crabs (Brachyura), and coral crabs tucked into the reef. You will also find many species of shrimp (Caridea) and various sponges (Porifera) providing habitat for the smaller inhabitants of the reef.

Sea turtles are a regular sight, including the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) and the Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). These creatures, along with various species of Grouper (Epinephelus) and Moray eel (Muraenidae), make the Florida Keys a premier destination for marine life observation.
