Merlin Divers

Located in the heart of the Kamala coastal road, Merlin Divers serves as a primary hub for divers on Phuket. The centre is conveniently situated just a few metres from Kamala Beach, making it an easy base for your diving trips.

As an SSI affiliated centre, it caters to a wide range of experience levels. Whether you are looking for a single day trip to the local reefs or an extended liveaboard safari to the Similan Islands, the centre provides structured excursions to some of the most iconic sites in the region.

The centre is led by Robert Klein, an SSI specialist instructor with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. This depth of expertise is reflected in the professional standards maintained throughout their training programmes.

Instruction is delivered in English, German, French, and Swedish. To ensure a focused and safe environment, the centre maintains a strict diver-to-guide ratio of maximum 4 to 5 divers per guide for excursions, and 3 to 4 divers per guide during training courses.

The curriculum covers the full spectrum of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover or Trial Diving or work towards their Open Water Diver qualification. Advanced divers can progress through the Advanced Adventurer Diver and Stress & Rescue Diver courses.

Professional training is also available for those aiming for the Divemaster level. The centre also offers various Specialty courses and Nitrox training to refine your skills.

The centre features one of the largest equipment shops on the island and is an official Aqua Lung partner. You can find a comprehensive selection of kit for hire, including regulators, fins, masks, and wetsuits.

For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available on-site.

The area is known for sightings of larger pelagics, including whale sharks and manta rays. These species are common in the region, though specific sightings depend on the season.

Reef life is diverse, with various species inhabiting the local coral structures. You will find a variety of reef fish and invertebrates throughout the different dive sites.

The best time to dive in this region is from October to April, which coincides with the dry season. During this period, the weather is typically more stable.

From May to September, the area experiences the wet season, which brings more frequent rain and wind.
