Indepth Dive Centre PADI 5* IDC & TecRec Centre

Located in the Rawai area of Phuket, Indepth Dive Centre has been a cornerstone of the local diving community since 1996. This PADI 5* IDC and TecRec centre is designed for divers who want to move beyond recreational limits, offering a structured path from your first breath underwater to professional instructor status.

The centre is particularly noted for its technical capabilities. Whether you are looking to master Nitrox or transition into the complexities of rebreather diving, the facilities and expertise here are geared toward precision and technical proficiency.

The centre is led by founder Chris Owen and operates with a focus on high-quality, personalised instruction. Rather than managing large volumes of divers, the team prioritises a tailored approach to ensure every student masters their skills.

Instruction is delivered by a highly qualified team capable of conducting the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). For those pursuing professional careers, the centre provides the necessary expertise for the Instructor Examination and Specialty Instructor courses.

To maintain safety and a focused learning environment, the guide-to-diver ratio is kept to a maximum of 6 divers per instructor. All instruction is conducted in English.

The curriculum spans the entire PADI spectrum, starting with Discover Scuba Diving and progressing through Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Rescue Diver certifications. For those looking to enter the professional ranks, the centre offers Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and full Open Water Scuba Instructor training.

Technical diving is a core specialty here. The centre is a TecRec facility offering PADI Technical Diving, Trimix, and Rebreather Diver courses, including advanced and instructor-level certifications for rebreather technology.

The centre operates a 24m dive boat, powered by two 340 HP engines, which departs from Chalong Pier at 08:30 following a 07:30 hotel pickup. The vessel is equipped with a sun deck and freshwater showers for post-dive rinsing.

On board, you can enjoy a buffet-style Thai lunch, Western salads, fruit, and snacks, alongside tea, coffee, and cold drinks. Beer is also available on the boat. The vessel is capable of handling various dive types, including reef, wreck, and pinnacle sites.

The facility includes dedicated training pools, featuring both a 3m and a 5m depth for controlled skill development. For those requiring technical gas, Nitrox is available for use.

Full kit hire is available on-site, covering everything from regulators and BCDs to wetsuits and fins. The centre also provides specialized support for technical divers, including rebreather and Trimix training.

The reefs and pinnacles of the region are home to diverse marine life. You can expect to encounter turtles and blacktip reef sharks across many sites. At Shark Point, leopard sharks are a notable presence.

In the Andaman Sea, the Hin Daeng and Hin Muang sites offer the chance to see manta rays and whale sharks during the appropriate seasons. These sites are defined by their steep walls and colourful coral structures.

On the reefs, you will find a variety of hard and soft corals that provide a complex habitat for smaller species.

The region offers year-round diving, though conditions vary depending on the specific site. Offshore sites like King Cruiser can be subject to moderate currents, making them more suitable for experienced divers.

Sites such as Racha Noi and Racha Yai are sheltered within bays, offering low current environments that are ideal for those working through their initial certifications.
