Palm Suites by Chaturhotels is an aparthotel for divers who prefer a useful base to a parade of hotel formalities. You get a recently renovated apartment, a heated saltwater pool, a garden and a sun terrace, with enough space to dry yourself off, make a drink and decide whether dinner deserves any further planning.

The hotel team speaks English, German and Spanish, so you can deal with the practicalities without resorting to underwater hand signals. The atmosphere is shaped by the layout: private apartments rather than standard hotel rooms, outdoor space rather than a grand lobby, and a setting where the beach, shops and evening bars are all within reach.

Soundproofing, air conditioning and ceiling fans matter here. They give you a better chance of sleeping properly when the previous day involved boats, salt water and a suspiciously early alarm.

You are in Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria, on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria. Playa de Puerto Rico is about 0.2 miles away, while Amadores Beach is roughly 1.1 miles on foot. Playa de Tauro is about 1.7 miles away on foot, and Anfi Beach is around 2.5 miles away by road.

The immediate neighbourhood is practical rather than remote. Restaurante Que Bien is about 950 feet away, with Pizzicato and Grill Caribe also within roughly 0.4 miles. Little Star Bar is about 0.4 miles away, while Chester Beach Club is around 0.4 miles from the property. The two newer shopping centres in Puerto Rico are about ten minutes away on foot.

For a change of scenery, Anfi Tauro Golf Course is about 2.3 miles away and Mogán Port around 7 miles away. Gran Canaria Airport is approximately 27 miles from the aparthotel, with the drive taking about 29 minutes.

The apartment is the sensible choice when you want your own routine. A bedroom, living room with sofa bed, dining area and private shower room give you somewhere to sit without balancing a plate on your knees. The open kitchen includes a hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and kitchenware, which is useful for breakfast, a late snack or the occasional meal assembled with more enthusiasm than skill.

Every apartment was renovated in summer 2025, with new furniture, air conditioning, open-showers and fully equipped open kitchens. Satellite and cable television are available in the bedroom and living room, while the ceiling fans give you another way to move air around the apartment. Towels and bed linen are included and changed regularly.

Choose according to how you use the room rather than simply chasing a view. Sea-view apartments look towards the ocean; pool-view apartments have a private balcony over the swimming pool; ground-floor apartments come with a private terrace; and Superior Apartments have a large front terrace with two sun loungers and a parasol. The Apartment with Sea View is the obvious pick when the horizon matters. For a couple who plans to spend time outside the room, the terrace can be the more useful luxury.

This is self-catering territory, and the kitchenettes make that workable rather than ceremonial. A dining table, fridge, hob, microwave, dishwasher and coffee equipment let you handle the important meals yourself: coffee before a morning departure, something cold when you return hungry, or a quiet supper without putting on proper shoes.

For evenings when cooking feels like an unnecessary adventure, Restaurante Que Bien is about 950 feet away. Pizzicato and Grill Caribe are also close by, giving you several nearby options without turning dinner into an expedition. Puerto Rico's shopping centres are about ten minutes away on foot if you need supplies or simply fancy a wander.

A bar is not part of the hotel's listed facilities, but drinks are still easy to arrange. There are vending machines for snacks and drinks, tea and coffee-making facilities in the apartments, and wine or champagne is available. The practical advantage is obvious: you can return from the water, open the fridge and let the evening take its time.

The heated saltwater swimming pool is the main reason to stay on site once you have finished with the day's plans. It sits alongside a large sun deck, with sun loungers, beach chairs and umbrellas for the serious business of doing very little. A swim is available without heading back to the beach, and the saltwater pool gives the afternoon a different flavour from another hour in the Atlantic.

The garden and outdoor terrace provide the quieter parts of the property. Depending on your apartment, you can use a private terrace or balcony, with ground-floor apartments opening onto their own terrace and Superior Apartments offering a large front terrace with loungers and a parasol. Pool views, garden views and inner-courtyard views give the accommodation different degrees of activity outside the door.

Beyond the hotel, Amadores Beach, Playa de Tauro and Anfi Beach give you alternatives to Playa de Puerto Rico. The Maspalomas Lighthouse is about 11 miles away by road, and El Parque Botánico de Maspalomas is around 11 miles away. These are the sort of outings that work well on a non-diving day, when nobody wants to discuss surface intervals over breakfast.

Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. You need photo identification and a credit card on arrival, and the hotel needs your expected arrival time in advance. The minimum age for check-in is 21. Cash is not accepted, so keep a card to hand for the formalities.

Free public street parking is available nearby, but spaces cannot be reserved. WiFi is free throughout the property, and laundry is available. Private and express check-in and check-out are offered, which can make arrival and departure less cumbersome when your flight, transfer or diving schedule refuses to behave.
