Diving Angel Tenerife

Diving Angel Tenerife is situated in the village of Los Gigantes, positioned against the backdrop of some of the highest cliffs in Europe. This location provides immediate access to a protected marine area, offering a distinct alternative to the more crowded dive hubs found elsewhere on the island.

The centre carries a significant legacy, acting as the successor to Buceo Marina Los Gigantes, which was the first dive centre established in the area over forty years ago. This long-standing history in the village ensures that the team possesses an intimate understanding of the local topography and sea conditions.

The team is composed of three professional, salaried instructors who are fully qualified and trilingual, speaking French, English, and Spanish. This ensures clear communication during briefings and throughout the training process, regardless of your native language.

As an established professional outfit, the centre is affiliated with several major bodies including FFESSM and SSI, and operates as a partner to PADI, FEDAS, FEDECAS, and ACUC. This allows them to provide a wide spectrum of internationally recognised certifications.

Safety is managed with a focus on professional standards, including the availability of oxygen therapy and dedicated safety equipment on board. The centre also provides assistance with dive insurance for those who do not have their own individual coverage.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of training, from initial entry-level courses such as Scuba Diver and Niveau 1 through to Open Water Diver. For those looking to progress, they offer Advance Adventurer, Niveau 2, and Niveau 3 certifications.

Specialised training is also available for divers looking to refine specific skills, including the Deep Diver course and React Right. The centre is also equipped to handle FFESSM-specific pathways, including the PE 12 and the issuance of FFESSM licences.

The centre operates a 250 CV rigid boat with a capacity for 10 divers. The vessel is equipped with a cylinder rack, a rear platform for easy entries and exits, and parrot ladders to assist with getting back on board.

On board, you will find facilities to make the surface interval more comfortable, including hot and cold drinks. The boat is also fully equipped with oxygen therapy and essential safety gear for every trip.

The shore-based facilities include dedicated changing rooms with hot showers for both men and women, as well as toilets and a spacious area for managing your kit. There is also a dedicated classroom equipped with all the necessary pedagogical tools for theory sessions.

Full kit hire is available for those who do not wish to travel with their own equipment, including BCDs, wetsuits, regulators, computers, and torches. The centre maintains a high standard of hygiene, with wetsuits and regulators rinsed and disinfected after every use.

The marine life in this protected area is diverse, with many species frequenting the rocky structures and reef flats. You can expect to see various wrasses, parrotfish, and groupers, alongside common octopus and cuttlefish. The sandy areas and ledges often host moray eels, trumpetfish, and various species of rays, including torpedo rays, butterfly rays, and Southern stingrays.

For those interested in larger pelagics, the area is known for sightings of eagle rays, mobulas, and blue sharks. You may also encounter great barracuda and various species of sea turtles, including Loggerhead sea turtles, Green sea turtles, and leatherback turtles.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants include slipper lobsters, crabs, and various species of anemones, sponges, and yellow gorgonians. The seabed is also home to spotted and common octopuses, as well as various species of grunter.

From November to April, there is the seasonal possibility of encountering the Angelshark.

The diving environment in Los Gigantes is accessible 365 days a year, with water temperatures typically ranging between 20°C and 25°C. The location offers a natural setting that allows for a variety of dive profiles depending on the daily conditions.
