The waters around Tenerife are home to a variety of large pelagics and interesting residents. You may encounter dolphins (Delphinidae) and sea turtles (Cheloniidae), including the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and loggerhead turtles, patrolling the reefs.

On the sandy bottoms and near rocky outcrops, keep an eye out for angel sharks (Squatina) and various rays, such as stingrays (Myliobatiformes) and eagle rays (Aetobatus). Schools of barracuda (Sphyraena) and snapper (Lutjanidae) are also frequently seen moving through the water column.

For those interested in macro life, the ecosystem supports a wide array of smaller organisms. You can find octopus (Octopus vulgaris), various species of moray eels (Muraenidae), and scorpionfish (Scorpaena) tucked into crevices. The reef also hosts colourful life such as nudibranchs, shrimp (Caridea), and sea anemones (Actiniaria), alongside various crustaceans like lobster (Homaridae) and spider crabs.

Fixed life provides the structure for these encounters, with brain coral (Diploria), sponges (Porifera), and various other corals forming the essential habitat for the local fish populations, including parrotfish, wrasse (Labridae), and damselfish (Pomacentridae).
