Ola Diving Center

Ola Diving Center is a well-established PADI 5 Star facility situated in Adeje, Tenerife. As part of the Atlantis group, the centre benefits from significant local expertise and a multi-location presence across the Canary Islands, including Fuerteventura.

Operating from three different locations with two boats and two separate ports, the centre provides access to a wide variety of dive sites. Whether you prefer shore diving on the reef flat or heading out on a motor yacht to reach deeper walls and wrecks, the setup is designed to accommodate different diving styles.

The centre is run by a multinational team of experienced instructors capable of communicating in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. This multilingual approach ensures that technical briefings and training sessions are clear, regardless of your native language.

Beyond standard recreational instruction, the team is equipped to lead advanced technical programmes and professional training. They offer Divemaster internships and a full suite of technical courses, catering to divers looking to progress into the professional ranks or move into the technical diving sphere.

Training at Ola Diving Center covers the entire PADI spectrum. Beginners can start with the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver courses, while those looking to progress can undertake the Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster programmes.

For technical divers, the course catalogue is extensive. You can train in specialties such as Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diver, as well as more advanced certifications including Decompression Diver, Extended Range Nitrox, and Sidemount Diver. The centre also offers high-level technical training in Extended Range Trimix, Technical Extended Range Trimix, and Hypoxic Trimix, alongside Gas Blender courses for those interested in the science of gas preparation.

The centre operates two motor yachts, each with a capacity for 12 divers. These vessels allow you to reach the more remote sites around the island that are inaccessible from the shore.

One of the boats is equipped with onboard toilets for added comfort during longer trips. For those heading out on day trips or night dives, the boats provide water and snacks to keep you fuelled between descents. Nitrox is available for use on board.

The centre provides full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes all the essentials required for both recreational and technical diving.

For technical divers, the facility supports advanced gas blending, including Nitrox and Trimix. The centre is set up to handle the specific requirements of extended range diving, providing the necessary support for those running complex gas configurations.

The waters around Tenerife are home to a diverse range of pelagics. You can regularly encounter dolphins (Delphinidae), whales, and even orcas. During April, Humpback whales are known to visit the area, while rays, including stingrays, devil rays, and Atlantic stingrays, are common sights on the sandy bottom.

For those interested in larger species, look out for hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna lewini) and various schools of barracuda or jack mackerels. You may also spot eagle rays (Aetobatus), Manta rays (Mobula alfredi), and bull rays cruising the currents.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants provide plenty of interest for keen observers. The reefs are populated by moray eels (Muraenidae), octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and various species of scorpionfish and frogfish (Antennarius). You can find many crustaceans, including lobster (Homaridae), spider crabs, and shrimp (Caridea), alongside colourful nudibranchs and sea slugs.

In the shallower reef areas, you will find plenty of colourful fish such as parrotfish (Calotomus), damselfish (Pomacentridae), and wrasse (Labridae). The seascape is further enriched by various corals, sponges (Porifera), and sea anemones (Actiniaria), creating a complex habitat for sea turtles (Cheloniidae) and many other reef inhabitants.

Diving in Tenerife is possible year-round. The most stable conditions are often found in October, when the water is warm and the sea is typically calm. September is also a reliable month for favourable weather.

While the island's geography often allows you to find a calm side to dive regardless of the swell, you should be aware of the 'Mar de Fondo'. This phenomenon can bring significant swell and increase turbidity, making the water less clear for several days at a time depending on the lunar cycle.
