Pama Diving

Located in the peaceful fishing village of Playa San Juan, Pama Diving offers a gateway to the volcanic underwater landscapes of Tenerife. The centre is positioned far from the heavy tourist crowds, focusing instead on a relaxed, personalised approach to diving.

Its location is highly practical for divers, with the base situated immediately adjacent to the beach and the dive boat. The boat is equipped with an embarkation ladder, ensuring that getting into and out of the water is straightforward and easy on the back.

The waters around this part of the Canary Islands are known for their varied topography. You can expect to find everything from shallow reef flats to dramatic walls, swim-throughs, and caves, all set against a backdrop of excellent visibility that can reach 30 metres.

The local waters are a haven for rays. You will regularly encounter Eagle ray (Aetobatus), butterfly rays, and large Atlantic stingrays, alongside various other species of stingrays and bull rays patrolling the seabed.

Beyond the rays, the area is home to a diverse range of larger marine life. You can spot various species of turtles, including the Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and loggerhead turtles, often cruising through the water column. Schools of fish are a constant presence, including barracudas, snapper (Lutjanus), and various species of wrasse (Labridae) and damselfish.

For those interested in macro life and smaller inhabitants, the reef and rocky areas offer plenty to see. Keep an eye out for Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), various species of moray eels, and crustaceans such as the Canary Islands lobster (Homaridae). You might also find more delicate creatures like nudibranchs, seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and scorpionfish lurking among the rocks.

The underwater scenery is completed by a variety of fixed life, including various corals and sponges (Porifera), providing essential habitats for the resident fish and invertebrates.
