Access and transfers
The Scubadivepro diving centre is located at exit 10 Tabaiba of the South motorway (TF-1). You need to go down to Avenida Marítima 25 (Edificio Jardín del Mar), and the centre is at the end of this road, on the seafront promenade. Public parking is available right next to it, but it is advisable to arrive early as it is often very busy. For Las Galletas, from Reina Sofía South Airport (18 km), take the TF1 motorway towards Los Cristianos/Arona, exit 26 Guaza/Las Galletas, and continue towards the village of Las Galletas without turning off. The marina is right there on arrival in the village.

Dive sites with Scubadivepro Tenerife

Pecio El Peñón is an artificial reef created from a sunken tugboat in 2006. The wreck is well-preserved, with the bow sitting at 18 metres and the stern reaching 32 metres, making it suitable for both Open Water and Advanced divers.

Cueva de las Morenas is a fascinating cave site that requires an intermediate to advanced level. It offers a dramatic landscape of underwater tunnels and rock formations that attract a high volume of recreational divers.

El Bufadero, also known as the Palm-Mar Wall, features a spectacular volcanic wall. The site is known for its calm conditions and is a preferred location for underwater photography due to the clarity and biodiversity.

Abades is a sheltered area perfect for those looking to work on buoyancy and orientation. The shallow reefs and volcanic formations provide a calm environment for all levels, including sites like the Cebadal.

Marine life around Tenerife

The volcanic reefs and walls are home to a variety of larger species. You can regularly encounter sea turtles, rays, and large schools of fish including barracuda, amberjack, and white seabream. Groupers and moray eels are often found patrolling the rocky crevices.

For those interested in smaller encounters, the area is excellent for macro photography. Look out for nudibranchs, seahorses, octopuses, and cuttlefish hiding among the reef structures.

The seabed and reef flats are also populated by parrotfish, trumpetfish, and garden eels. In certain areas, you may spot angelsharks or even mantas passing through the deeper sections of the water.

Diving conditions

The waters around Tenerife are generally calm and protected from strong currents, particularly at sites like Abades and Tabaiba. This makes the area highly suitable for training and photography.

While the area can be enjoyed year-round, the period from May to October is often cited as a prime time for exploration. Divers should follow standard safety protocols regarding flying and altitude changes after deep or multi-dive excursions.
