Precise Resort Tenerife is a sizeable resort for divers who want more than a bed between boat trips, with 40,000 m² of subtropical gardens, a palm-fringed swimming pool and plenty of room to spread out. The Atlantic views do much of the talking; fortunately, there is no need for a speech after a long day in the water.

You can settle into a proper resort routine here: breakfast, a walk through exotic planting, a spell on the terrace, then dinner without having to go hunting for it. Couples have sea-view rooms and suites to choose from, while families have larger rooms and child-friendly facilities. The atmosphere is built around space, gardens and the coast rather than a compact town-centre hotel.

You are in Puerto de la Cruz, on the north coast of Tenerife, with the hotel set beside the Atlantic. Playa de los Roques is about 250 metres away, while Playa Jardín is roughly 0.6 miles away, around a ten-minute walk. These are coastal walks rather than the sort of arrangement where you open the hotel door directly onto a sandy beach, so pack footwear that copes with volcanic ground.

For a change of scene, Puerto de la Cruz Bus Station is around 1.3 miles away on foot. Plaza Charco is about 1.5 miles away, San Felipe Castle around 1 mile, and the Botanical Gardens roughly 2.2 miles. Restaurante Punta Brava is about 1,700 feet away, with further restaurants and bars in the surrounding area when the buffet does not suit your mood.

The room choice is mainly about how you want to wake up. Sea-view rooms and suites put the Atlantic on your balcony, while mountain-view options turn the outlook inland. For two people who prefer separate beds, twin rooms cover that practical requirement; couples wanting a larger room can look towards the suites, with the Presidential Suite offering the most generous layout and two bathrooms.

The family room is the useful choice when four people need to stay together rather than occupy separate rooms. Its larger footprint gives you more space to live around the luggage, which matters when everyone has brought shoes, clothing and the usual post-dive clutter. The smaller double and twin rooms suit two guests who will spend their waking hours outdoors and want a straightforward base with a balcony and a view.

Air conditioning helps you recover from Tenerife's warmth, while a coffee machine gives you an easy first drink before breakfast. Rooms also have a seating area, desk, wardrobe or closet, television and free WiFi, with daily housekeeping keeping the practical side under control. The recently renovated decoration is described as elegant, but the useful detail is simpler: you have somewhere to sit, somewhere to work out the next day's plan and a balcony for the evening air.

Mar Oceano Restaurant handles breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet, with Canarian and international dishes served indoors or on the terrace. From outside, you look across the Atlantic while deciding whether you need a sensible plate or a second helping. After diving, that is a more relevant luxury than a menu with fancy adjectives.

Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 11:00, giving you a useful window for an early start or a slower morning. Special-diet menus are available on request, and packed lunches are also available when the day's plans take you away from the restaurant.

There is one named bar, Cocoloco Bar, with a glazed panoramic terrace looking towards the rocky coast of Playa de los Roques. A snack bar is also available, along with room service, so you can keep things simple when wet kit, tired legs or sheer laziness win the evening argument.

The gardens are the main reason to leave your room without committing to anything strenuous. Sun loungers, umbrellas, outdoor seating, terraces and the large swimming pool give you places to read, nap or watch the light change over the coast. Pool and beach towels are available, which saves you from sacrificing your room towel to the afternoon.

If your legs still work after diving, the resort has a tennis court, tennis equipment, mini golf, table tennis and darts. Hiking is also available, and the tour desk can help with arranging outings. Live music and performances give the evening a little structure, although you can just as easily stop at the bar and let the day finish there.

For the more deliberate form of recovery, the spa and wellness centre includes a sauna and hot tub, with massages available alongside back and neck treatments. The fitness centre is there for guests who feel the need to exercise after exercising underwater. Beauty services, manicures, pedicures and facial treatments add further options, while children have a kids' club, a separate pool, outdoor play equipment, a games room and mini golf.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:00, and check-out is by 12:00. The minimum age for check-in is 18. Children of all ages are welcome; cots are available for babies up to two years, while extra beds for children and teenagers can be requested, subject to the chosen room and availability.

Tenerife North–Ciudad de La Laguna Airport is about 16 miles away by road, with Tenerife South Airport around 56 miles away by road. The resort has a shuttle service and car hire, so you can arrange the airport leg or explore the island independently. Private parking is available nearby, and luggage storage, a 24-hour front desk and a minimarket on site are useful details when your travel day does not run to plan.

A lift serves the upper floors, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. You can also use the tour desk, request packed lunches and arrange laundry or dry-cleaning services. Pets are not allowed, and cash is an accepted payment method.
