Les Aquanautes Capbreton

Located at the Pont Notre-Dame, Les Aquanautes has been a fixture of the Capbreton diving community since 2003. The club is ideally positioned just a short walk from the port exit, allowing for a seamless transition between shore-based training and ocean departures.

As an associative club, it maintains a strong focus on the FFESSM curriculum while catering to a variety of interests. Whether you are looking to explore the local canal systems or head out to sea, the centre provides the infrastructure necessary for both structured training and recreational exploration.

The club is run by a team of enthusiasts dedicated to the various disciplines of subaquatic activity. They manage everything from initial discovery dives to advanced technical training and the preparation of diving leaders.

Instruction follows the FFESSM standards, covering a comprehensive progression of levels. The team provides guidance for all types of diving, including night dives and technical courses, ensuring a professional approach to safety and skill development.

The training programme is extensive, following the FFESSM structure from Niveau 1 through to Niveau 4 ANMP. For those looking to specialise, the club offers Nitrox courses (élémentaire and confirmé), RIFAP, and various technical diving pathways.

Beyond standard certifications, you can undertake specific skills training such as Randonnée palmée. The centre also facilitates the progression toward advanced roles, including training for diving cadres and technical divers using mixed gases.

For trips out to the ocean, the club operates the Iollan, a semi-rigid boat with a capacity for 15 divers. The vessel departs directly from the port of Capbreton, providing efficient access to offshore sites.

Nitrox is available for use during sea outings, allowing for extended bottom times on your offshore excursions.

The centre provides rental equipment from Scubapro, ensuring reliable kit for those not travelling with their own. This includes essential items for your dives, though divers should note that personal items such as computers, torches, and octopus/buoyancy devices are typically not included in standard rental packages.

On-site, the club is equipped with a Nitrox station, making it easy to prepare for extended dives. The facility is well-suited for both training sessions and recreational dives, with easy access to the local sites.

The local marine life is characterised by a variety of reef-dwelling species. You will find sea anemones and various corals providing habitat for a diverse range of fish and crustaceans.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants are present throughout the area, including various types of crustaceans that inhabit the seabed and structures.

The club offers diverse environments, from the sheltered canal explorations to the more open ocean conditions. Canal dives can be conducted either autonomously or with a guide, providing a controlled environment for skill practice.

Ocean dives are subject to the typical conditions of the Landes coast, with the club's semi-rigid boat providing the means to reach offshore spots.
