Spot Plongée

Spot Plongée has been a fixture of the Capbreton diving community since 2010. Situated in the Landes region, the centre is perfectly positioned for those looking to explore the rugged beauty of the Atlantic coast or the tranquil waters of the nearby Lac de Capbreton.

The centre operates as a full-service hub, combining a retail boutique with a technical workshop for equipment servicing. This dual approach ensures that whether you are a local diver needing a regulator service or a visitor looking to hire a complete kit set, the technical standards are strictly maintained.

The team is composed of experienced divers, State-qualified instructors (Moniteurs DE), and certified SSI instructors. This allows the centre to offer a high level of pedagogical expertise across a diverse range of training programmes.

They cater to a broad spectrum of the diving community, from beginners taking their first breaths underwater to professionals, including military and gendarmerie divers. The instruction is personalised, with a strong emphasis on safety and the reliable use of equipment.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum through both SSI and FFESSM affiliations. Beginners can start with Basic Diver, Scuba Diver, or Open Water Diver courses, while more advanced divers can progress through various levels including Deep Diver, Wreck, and Rescue Diver.

Technical and specialty training is a core part of the offering, with Nitrox (including Nitrox 32 and Nitrox 40) available to extend your bottom times. The centre also provides professional training paths such as Divemaster and various FFESSM levels from Niveau 1 through to Niveau 4.

The centre utilises a semi-rigid boat for offshore excursions, providing a stable platform for navigating the Atlantic waters. These trips allow you to reach the more significant features of the coastline, including the deep canyons.

For those looking to dive the night, the boat is equipped for night dives, allowing you to experience the local marine life after sunset.

The centre features a well-equipped workshop capable of handling various maintenance tasks, including regulator servicing (both compensated and non-compensated models), pressure gauge checks, and bespoke neoprene suit repairs. They also offer air filling services and a dedicated service for professional volume clubs.

For divers who prefer not to carry their own rig, a full range of equipment is available for hire. The shop stocks reputable brands including Mares, Apeks, Scubapro, Aqualung, Beuchat, Cressi, Bigblue, and Xdeep.

The Atlantic waters around Capbreton host a variety of mobile species. You can regularly spot rays, conger eels, and schools of mullet moving through the water.

For those with an eye for detail, the seabed offers plenty of interest in the form of lobsters and bright green anemones. These creatures inhabit the rocky structures and crevices found throughout the area.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants, such as various species of anemones, add texture and colour to the underwater landscape, making even the more rugged sections of the coast rewarding to explore.

The marine environment in the Atlantic is subject to moderate currents and a moderate swell. These conditions require divers to be mindful of their buoyancy and positioning, particularly when exploring the offshore sites.

In contrast, the Lac de Capbreton offers a completely different experience, with zero current and still, fresh water, making it highly predictable for training and skill development.
