Plongee Passion Carry

Plongée Passion Carry has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1994. Situated in Carry le Rouet, the centre provides access to a vast array of underwater landscapes, from shallow seagrass meadows to deep, technical wreck sites and dramatic vertical walls.

The centre is affiliated with FFESSM, CMAS, PADI, and SSI, ensuring that divers can pursue a wide variety of certification pathways. Whether you are looking for a relaxed exploration of the local reef flat or a challenging technical dive, the facility is geared towards providing a professional and structured experience.

The team is composed of three professional instructors, including BEES qualified monitors, ensuring a high standard of safety and instruction. The centre maintains a strict ratio of one guide per diver, providing personalised attention during every excursion.

Environmental stewardship is a core part of their identity. The centre holds the ECOSUB label and is a member of the Longitude 181 Ambassadors, supporting the conservation efforts of Sea Shepherd. This commitment to the marine environment is reflected in their operational practices and their role as a training centre for diving professionals.

For those looking to develop their skills, the centre offers specialised programmes for children, including discovery packs and technical training modules. The facility is designed for comfort, featuring heated changing rooms and clean, hot showers for use throughout the year.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering all major certification levels from beginner to advanced technical diving. You can work through the FFESSM progression, including Niveau 1, Niveau 2, and Niveau 3, or follow PADI and SSI pathways. Specific modules such as PA12, PA20, PA40, and PE60 are available to tailor your depth and experience.

For technical divers, the centre offers advanced training in Nitrox (PN and PN-C), Trimix (PTH-40 / PTH-70), and Side Mount (Light, Soft, and Full). They also provide specialised courses in drysuit diving and BCD proficiency. The centre is also authorised to host diving instructor trainees in a pedagogical setting.

The fleet consists of two recent semi-rigid boats, the Jolly Roger and the HADES. The Jolly Roger is an 8.50m vessel, while the HADES is 7.50m. Both boats are equipped with essential safety gear and a parrot ladder for easy access during surface intervals.

On board, you can find amenities such as hot tea to enjoy after your dives. The boats are prepared for a variety of dive types, including day trips and night dives, and are capable of carrying up to 19 divers. Nitrox is available for use during your excursions.

The centre is a Scubapro centre, providing high-quality, recently renewed equipment that is maintained and disinfected every season. They offer full kit hire, including regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, and computers. For those who prefer to bring their own, the centre manages all cylinder handling and provides weights and weight belts.

On-site facilities include a dedicated maintenance workshop for servicing brands such as Scubapro, Aqualung, Apeks, Mares, and Tecline. The shore base also provides kit-rinsing areas and clean, heated changing rooms. Nitrox and Trimix are available for divers requiring enriched air or technical gas blends.

The local marine life is exceptionally diverse, with a focus on the complex ecosystems of the rocky reefs and seagrass meadows. In the shallower areas, you will encounter a variety of small fish such as blennies, wrasse, and damselfish, alongside colourful nudibranchs and various species of sea slugs.

Macro life is a highlight for many divers. You can find a wide array of crustaceans, including spiny lobsters, lobsters, and squat lobsters, often tucked into crevices. Octopuses, various species of shrimp, and many types of nudibranchs populate the sponges and corals.

The vertical walls and wrecks are home to larger predators and interesting residents. You can observe groupers, conger eels, and moray eels patrolling the rocks, while schools of sea bream and gilthead seabream move through the water column. Red coral and various sponge species provide a vibrant backdrop for these encounters.

The diving season runs year-round, with most sea outings organised daily between 1 April and 30 November. During the winter months, from 1 December to 31 March, boat trips are primarily organised on weekends and during the week if a group of at least five divers is formed.

Water temperatures typically range from 12°C in the winter to warmer levels in the summer. The coastline offers a variety of environments, from sheltered sites like Petit et Grand Mornas that are accessible in most weather, to more open sites that may be subject to local conditions.
