Odyssee Bleue Socoa

Odyssée Bleue Socoa is situated in Ciboure, positioned along the spectacular and well-preserved coastline of the Basque Country. This region of the Atlantic coast is defined by a highly articulated shoreline, creating a complex underwater topography of rocky massifs, canyons, and arches.

The centre is ideally placed for those looking to experience the unique relief of the Bay of Saint Jean de Luz. With embarkation points at Socoa, you are never far from the action, with most dive sites reached within a 10 to 15-minute boat ride.

The team is composed of state-qualified instructors holding BEES and DEJEPS diplomas. This ensures a high standard of instruction for both recreational divers and those pursuing formal FFESSM certifications.

The centre operates under the affiliations of ANMP and FFESSM. They maintain a strong commitment to marine environmental protection, working to minimise their impact on the local ecosystem while guiding you through these sensitive habitats.

The centre offers a complete progression of FFESSM training courses. Beginners can start with a discovery dive (Baptême) or progress through the PE12 and Niveau 1 (PE20) certifications.

For more experienced divers, the curriculum includes PE40, PA20, and Niveau 2, as well as the advanced Niveau 3. Please note that a valid licence is required for FFESSM courses, and a medical certificate is necessary for all training beyond the initial discovery dive.

A full range of rental equipment is available on-site for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes 5mm wetsuits, BCDs, regulators, fins, masks, and dive computers.

For those looking to complete their setup, the centre also provides buoyancy compensators and octopus units. All dives include the use of cylinders and weights.

The Atlantic waters here are home to a variety of fish, including wrasse, bogue, and various species of pout. You will also encounter various crustaceans and octopus throughout the rocky reefs.

Macro life is present in the crevices of the underwater topography, where you can find several types of octopus. The rocky structures provide ample hiding spots for these cephalopods.

In certain seasons, you may be fortunate enough to encounter the ocean sunfish (Mola mola) passing through the area.

The dive sites are characterized by a varied underwater relief, including canyons and rocky massifs. Divers should be prepared for the typical conditions of the Atlantic coast.
