Clearwater Adventures

Clearwater Adventures has been operating in Roatan since 2014, establishing itself as a dedicated SSI dive centre. Situated between the jungle and the beach, the centre provides easy access to the Caribbean's warm, clear waters. It is positioned just a short walk from Turtle Beach Resort and Ananta Sun, making it a convenient base for your diving holidays.

The centre is built around a commitment to the local community and environmental protection, utilising 4-stroke engines to reduce its footprint. Whether you are looking for a single morning excursion or a series of training courses, the focus remains on providing a personalised service in a professional setting.

The team at Clearwater Adventures prioritises small group sizes to ensure safety and individual attention. For certified divers, groups are limited to a maximum of 6 divers per guide, while training courses are kept to 4 students per instructor.

Beyond the water, the centre is deeply integrated with the island, focusing on training and employing local youth. This community-driven approach helps maintain a high standard of local knowledge and service for every diver who visits.

Clearwater Adventures offers a comprehensive range of SSI training, from initial certifications to professional levels. Beginners can start with the Basic Diver Course, Scuba Diver Course, or the Open Water Course, including the Referral Open Water Course.

For more experienced divers, the centre provides advanced training such as the Advanced Open Water Course, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Advanced Wreck Diver specialties. You can also refine your skills with the Perfect Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation, and Night Diver courses, or prepare for rescue duties with the Diver Stress & Rescue Course.

Professional paths are also available through the Divemaster Course. For those looking to extend their bottom time, the Enriched Air Nitrox course is available on-site.

The centre operates two custom-made vessels to accommodate different group sizes. Layla is a 30ft boat powered by a 300hp Yamaha 4-stroke engine, with a capacity for 14 divers or 18 snorkelers.

Rita is a 27ft custom-made dive boat equipped with a 200hp 4-stroke outboard motor. This vessel has a capacity for 11 divers or 15 snorkelers. Both boats are designed for comfort and reliability during your excursions.

For those not travelling with their own equipment, a full range of rental kit is available, including BCDs, regulators, fins, masks, snorkels, and wetsuits. The centre also provides weights and cylinders.

For fun divers, dive computers are available for hire. On-site facilities include an 80ft long pier with a shaded palapa, which serves as a convenient assembly point and a calm, confined water area for training sessions.

The reefs are home to a diverse array of fish, including Parrotfish (Calotomus), Blue Tangs, Sergeant Majors, and various species of Snapper (Lutjanus). You will often see schools of Silversides, Blue Chromis, and Jacks (Carangidae) moving through the water, alongside Trumpetfish (Aulostomidae) and various species of Grouper (Epinephelus).

Large pelagics and interesting residents like the Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) are regular visitors. You may also encounter Caribbean reef sharks, Nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum), and various rays, including the Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus).

The underwater landscape is defined by its rich hard and soft coral structures. You will find a variety of brain corals, pillar coral, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and sea whips, alongside numerous sponges (Porifera) and soft corals (Alcyonacea) that provide colour and complexity to the reef.

For those interested in macro life, the crevices hold many treasures. Look out for Nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), Seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various crustaceans such as Spiny lobster (Palinuridae), Mantis shrimp, and various types of Crab (Brachyura). Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) and Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) also frequent the reef floor.

The centre offers flexible diving schedules, including morning departures and night dives conducted at sunset. Dive sites are selected daily based on the prevailing weather and the specific experience levels of the divers in the group.
