Naboo Dive Center

Naboo Resort & Dive Center is situated directly on the sands of West Bay, Roatan. This prime location puts the white sands and the edge of the reef within walking distance of your accommodation, making it easy to transition from the resort to the water.

Established by an Italian couple who has been part of the Roatan community since 1996, the centre has grown into a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort. It combines professional dive operations with an adult-only atmosphere, providing a quiet environment for divers to relax between outings.

The operation is run by experienced owners with nearly three decades of local expertise. The team is multilingual, ensuring clear communication for a variety of international divers.

Safety and small group sizes are central to the service, with a ratio of six divers per guide. This ensures that whether you are working through a certification or exploring a new reef, you have sufficient professional attention on the boat and in the water.

Naboo offers a comprehensive range of PADI training, from initial entries like Discover Scuba Diving and Bubble Maker to full Open Water Diver and Scuba Diver certifications. For those looking to advance their skills, the centre conducts Advanced Open Water Course, Rescue Course, and Dive Master programmes.

Specialised training is also available, including the Nitrox course to extend your no-decompression limits. For divers looking to refresh their skills before heading back into the water, a Refresh course is offered to ensure confidence and competence.

The centre operates two fast, shaded boats designed to reach the dive sites of West End, Sandy Bay, and West Bay within 10 to 15 minutes. The vessels are equipped to carry 12 divers alongside two dive masters and the captain.

For those looking to extend their bottom time, the boats support double tank configurations for morning dives. Nitrox is available on board for those who require it, and the boats are also used for scheduled night dives.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit, featuring new Mares equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, and other essential components for those not travelling with their own gear.

On-site facilities include a dedicated area for divers, with oxygen and first aid kits kept ready for use. The resort also offers a restaurant and bar near the pool and jacuzzi, providing a place to decompress after a day on the water.

The reefs are vibrant with fixed life, including various brain corals, pillar coral, and sea whip. You will find extensive colonies of sea fans (Gorgoniidae), soft corals (Alcyonacea), and diverse sponges such as barrel sponge and elephant ear sponge.

Large pelagics and reef residents are common, including Caribbean reef sharks, nurse sharks, and various species of grouper (Epinephelus). You may also encounter eagle rays (Aetobatus), spotted eagle rays, and large tarpons cruising the currents.

In the smaller details, the macro life is significant. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various crustaceans like spiny lobster (Palinuridae) and mantis shrimp. Other frequent sightings include octopus (Octopus vulgaris), scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and garden eels (Gorgasia).

The diving environment in Roatan is generally characterised by clear, calm waters. Visibility is reliable, with an average of 20 metres, and water temperatures hover around 28°C.

The reef structure provides a variety of habitats, from shallow reef flats to deeper walls and canyons, suitable for different experience levels and dive profiles.
