Established in the early 1900s, the Roatán Yacht Club is one of the island's original diving hotels and marinas. The property has been meticulously restored to maintain its historical architecture while providing a modern base for divers exploring the Caribbean.

Nesting within a protected harbour in French Harbor, the centre offers a tranquil environment overlooking the ocean. The site spans five acres of lush tropical landscape, combining a full-service marina with high-end boutique accommodation.

The dive centre is defined by its deep local roots. The team is led by an experienced divemaster, Bruce, who trained within the Honduran marine environment. This local expertise ensures that the guidance provided is grounded in a practical understanding of the regional waters.

Beyond diving, the staff manages a variety of maritime activities, including fishing. The atmosphere is professional yet welcoming, catering to those looking for a seamless transition from the dive boat to the hotel's bar, restaurant, or pool.

The reefs surrounding Roatán are vibrant, defined by a rich architecture of pillar coral, brain coral, and sea whip. You will find a dense variety of fixed life including sea fans (Gorgoniidae), sponges (Porifera), and various soft corals (Alcyonacea) that provide essential habitat for the local inhabitants.

Large pelagics and schooling fish are common sights. Keep an eye out for Caribbean reef sharks, eagle rays (Aetobatus), and various species of snapper (Lutjanus). You may also encounter large groupers, yellowfin tuna, and schools of jack (Carangidae) moving through the water column.

For those interested in macro life, the area offers incredible diversity. You can find seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), various nudibranchs, and octopus (Octopus vulgaris) tucked into the reef. The reef is also populated by a wide array of crustaceans and smaller creatures, such as spiny lobster (Palinuridae), mantis shrimp, and various crabs. Look closely for peacock flounders, pygmy filefish, and the occasional green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) or loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) passing through the area.
